One has a factory warranty, a/c, heat, power everything, nice stereo, can cruise 80+ mph effortlessly and still get good gas mileage, etc. etc. etc., the other one can't even be driven to get a gallon of milk. (I know they can be built to be streetable, but many people don't bother)
If you want the baddest machine, then no, don't buy a H3- but if you want a competent off road vehicle with all the creature comforts then look at the H3.
could build a streetable one easy on a jeep frame or any frame for that matter. could build a toyota truck.
don't rule out that there are lots of other rigs that are just as capable as an h3 and don't get credit. look at toyota tacomas with 31s and an electric locker in the rear, look at rubicons, even some trailblazer come with lockers in the rear. the h3 is not the best thing since sliced bread.
good gas mileage? don't they get like 13? my tow rig can get that while pulling my jeep.
