We have a roll up bed cover on Catherine's F150 and at first I disliked it, but grew to really appreciate the added security and out of the weather storage it provides. It was very valuable when in Baja, lots of tools and recovery gear in the bed, but it was out of sight and out of mind of those willing to steal!

So this big thing followed me home. It’s heavy unloaded. Curious how the truck will handle the hills. Not sure what to do with the deck on the gooseneck but the sides are sails and are for sure coming off. Being a shortbed, I’m a wee bit concerned about that deck smacking my cab. Anyone run a trailer with the deck on a shortbed? How much of a diet can I put this trailer on?

I would probably pull that upper deck (at least the boards) off, for the wind resistance alone. If it hits your cab, it will only be when backing. You can't turn sharp enough going forward. and If your truck doesn't have air bags yet, I've got a set for it that's brand new. Cheap to my RME friend.

28’. I had a 26’ bumper pull previously. It worked well but I think I cheated and could hang the first rig over the front bulkhead. The 28’ goose should be fine but the bulkhead isn’t something I can hang my Jeep bumper over.
There’s a nice 32’ goose for $5500 on Facebook that I was going to snag but this 28’ popped on KSL yesterday.

I am gooseneck fan, as you know, and been pulling doubles for years.
I have only pulled the big trailer with an ‘85 454, ‘96 454, and my Cummins. It was all the big blocks wanted, but the Cummins seems to be a little more friendly. Used to have to hit the hills pretty hard before hand, now it’s only medium hard.
You will figure out how to make it work.

You will definitely love the way that gooseneck pulls two Jeeps compared to your old bumper pull with two Jeeps on it. I want one pretty bad but I don't really have room anymore.

.I am curious how it will tow. I may know later today (wanted to figure out chains and stuff before heading to Moab). This seems to feel like my dual hauler bumper pull loaded, empty. My thinking is that it’s throwing weight at the truck by design and that’s what I’m feeling. I used a 14k equalizer hitch with the bumper pull (kind of requires to tow that kind of weight off the hitch in my opinion) and that would load the front of the truck. The gooseneck just does this empty and I may feel more weight than expected unloaded? I need to find a scale and see what it actually weighs. If it’s less than 5k, I’d be shocked. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s pushing 6k or more? I doubt I’ll notice the cargo weight much except when taking hills or accelerating to speed? The cargo weight might even take some pin weight off the truck?
Time will tell.
. This was just a short run in St George to haul Olly’s rig to the trail. The trailer really did work well.

I was just going to say how much you will like that for hauling camping gear and what-not.
Those trailer tires are carrying a LOT of weight, I would be sure to keep them in good shape.. but I bet you already knew that
