I own a tow rig again... I really bought it for work, but it'll also serve to pull the 4Runner around on the weekends as well. I'm excited to be able to tow again, driving the 4Runner to the trail is OK, but it's not the quickest option anymore.
It's a '98 Dodge with a 24 valve Cummins & 5 speed, Quad cab, short bed, 130k miles.
I found it on eBay... in New Hampshire. I flew out there on saturday night & got back home tuesday afternoon. 2300 miles in 3 days, a hell of a way to test out a new (to me) vehicle. Iowa sucks... so does Chicago traffic/construction. So do drunk hoodlums who come poking around your truck at 2am while you're trying to catch some shut-eye.
The best thing is the Edge Comp controller... holy s*#t! It makes driving FUN! Even in the lowest setting it's quick, much diffrent that my old stock Cummins diesel. I need to get an owners manual for it, see what I'm toying with when I push the buttons. :greg: Oh, it also has a newly installed ceramic clutch. Which is a good thing, cause I don't know that a stock clutch would be suffucient.
I'm going to put an Aero Exhaust muffler on it & add a BHAF & that'll probably be it. Mabey some bigger injectors down the road. It has enough power for me... and would probably get great mileage if I kept my foot out of the throttle.
The tires are 285's and I hate the steel wheels. I picked up a set of nice Aluminum factory Dodge wheels (thanks JKS!), but apparently you have to turn down the drums on the '98's to make them fit. So that's the next step.
