Humphry's has Saturday morning hours....
That said, I have 200cf bottle for both 75/25 for the Mig and Argon for the TIG
Talking about the humphries in AF? They aren’t open saturdays any more. It’s lame.

Also, even if you have the big bottle, you run out on Saturday 😂

Fired up the new welder tonight. It took a few minutes to get it dialed right for what I was doing, but once it was set, I was very happy. The lowest setting on this is still probably slightly hotter than the highest on my 110.

I am surprised with the odd powder the flux core is leaving behind. It’s the Lincoln 0.3 from HD.. the same stuff I have in my 110.. but it sure acts different. It takes a bit of brushing to get it off. You can see here that it is a gray power that just stays.

I modified my handy shipping cart to hold the second welder as well. I’ll get fancy hooks and whatnot put on to hold the wires.

The one complaint I have so far about the welder is a slight delay between when I pull the trigger on the gun to when it actually starts to feed. We are talking half a second or so, but it still took some time to adjust to.

First welding project with a new welder is always a cart for said welder. Come on man.

If you haven't already, look for a gas bottle on KSL or whatever. It doesn't have to be welding gas, any inert gas bottle can be exchanged for what you need, and should save $$ compared to just buying from Airgas or whoever. They do care about having the stickers on the tank, and the thread-on cap though.

And remember to switch your polarity when you switch from flux-core to gas-shield. You will only switch it once, because you won't go back to flux. :)

@mbryson The Forney and Lincoln in that review look like flux core only unless I'm missing something? I've never heard of Weldpro; Eastwood seems to have mixed reviews on their equipment but I've never owned anything of theirs personally. I'd go for the Hobart out of the lot if the Forney and Lincoln really are flux only.

I think he's looking at flux core on all of them, attach a bottle and you've just eliminated the portability. For the price the Forney looks tempting, question I have is the .30 wire, I think my Lincoln has .35 listed just not sure how that plays in to your needs.

This would be for exactly what you describe. Flux core only and something that could be run wherever it might be needed. For the price, the Forney seems like something to have.?

Found a Hobart 110. It's on its way

Received this via brown Santa on Thursday. Had some house stuff to do and just cranked this up. Turns out it's a bit of a beast. (And it's a Hobart 100 but I don't imagine that's any different than a 110?)

My normal welding hood is not enough to be able to see past the flash. Probably looking through a bit of flash burn tonight? Broke out my oldest Lincoln helmet (non auto darkening) and it's a bit much to where I can see the "puddle" but not the material I'm welding to AT ALL. The "puddle" seems a bit different than a mig to me.

Headed to Cal Ranch to check out hoods.

I had the 110. It served me well for many years. One piece of advice. Lock down your wire spool before transporting the welder. The wire will tend to unroll while traveling. When it does, it has the chance to short out the positive and negative connections. If this happens and you power it up, it’ll blow your diodes.

I’m a slow learner, I did this twice.

Excellent advice from Mr Cannon (who's surprised?). Did you just wrap the spool with masking tape?

If I remember right, on the Hobart the spool holder has a tensioner that you can crank down tight. On my present Miller portable, I keep a small bungee in it to tie the spool down during transport since I can’t tighten that one down enough
