Yeah, I hear the swap into a newer Ford isn't bad. I thought about putting one in my 01 SuperDuty, but the 7.3 ran too well to mess with it. They just didn't fit well into the 88 - 95ish Chevs very well. I know it can be done, just more expensive and time consuming than other swaps.

Ive done this swap twice.
Once in a 97 Suburban and again in my Dually.

Its alot easier than youd think.

I also did it for way less than $5k. Total.
Remember, The motor/Trans in your truck can be sold off to offset the costs...
If you buy the right parts the 1st time around it can be done pretty easy and cheap.

Ive been driving my truck ( 96 Chevy K3500 ) for 5 or 6 years now without any real issues. Its never left me stranded anywhere.
It also pulls my 33' 5th wheel with my 16' enclosed behind it to the dunes several times a year. Probably around 5k miles towing a year.
I dont really drive it much without it bieng loaded.

Im not an expert but if you have any questions on the swap let me know.
Before I started messing around with these I found lots of info on the net, most of it was from guys that hadnt actually done it. Lots of cousin and brother stories...lol

I've read lots of bits and pieces of swaps, but never could find a detailed log of one. Always thought it would have been a cool swap.

The engine would have been only part of what I would have needed. If I had dropped a Cummins in there I would have needed to swap axles with a SAS in the front. Then after all that work I didn't like the red interior, so there would have been another project for that.
