Please, I beg of you, do your research before you post a thread accusing a person of supporting infanticide
(def: 1. the act of killing an infant.
2. the practice of killing newborn infants.
3. a person who kills an infant.)
And I beg of you to do additional research. "Born alive" abortions ARE infanticide. The link you provided details Obama's pro stance on "born alive" abortions (PC term for infanticide).
definition of infant:
1 : a child in the first period of life
2 : a person who is not of full age
To further qualify this definition, here are two more definitions for clarification.
definition of child:
1 a: an unborn or recently born person b dialect : a female infant
2 a: a young person especially between infancy and youth b: a childlike or childish person c: a person not yet of age
3 usually childe \ˈchī(-ə)ld\ archaic : a youth of noble birth
4 a: a son or daughter of human parents b: descendant
5: one strongly influenced by another or by a place or state of affairs
definition of person:
1: human, individual —sometimes used in combination especially by those who prefer to avoid man in compounds applicable to both sexes <chairperson><spokesperson>
2: a character or part in or as if in a play : guise
3 a: one of the three modes of being in the Trinitarian Godhead as understood by Christians b: the unitary personality of ****** that unites the divine and human natures
4 aarchaic : bodily appearance b: the body of a human being; also : the body and clothing <unlawful search of the person>
5: the personality of a human being : self
6: one (as a human being, a partnership, or a corporation) that is recognized by law as the subject of rights and duties
7: reference of a segment of discourse to the speaker, to one spoken to, or to one spoken of as indicated by means of certain pronouns or in many languages by verb inflection
One might debate that a baby in the process of being aborted may or may not be "one that is recognized by law as the subject of rights and duties" or "human, individual" to qualify as a "person" under these technical definitions. That might be debatable, but based on these definitions, "child" applies, therefore "infant" applies and therefore "infanticide" applies.
Thanks for providing that link. It clearly outlines how Obama voted against a bill banning "born alive" abortions while in the Illinois State Senate. His reasoning was lack of protection for Roe v Wade, stating he would support a similar bill with such protection. Then it was determined that he also voted against a bill meeting the qualifications he previously said he would support (protection of Roe v Wade). So, given several opportunities, he has been consistent in supporting infanticide or "born alive" abortions.
I personally don't agree with abortion, but I don't think the government should make that decision for everyone. I am solidly against partial-birth and "born alive" abortion.
And I'm voting for the only candidate with any integrity in this election. Ralph Nader. I disagree with some of his positions, but at least you always know where he stands and he isn't bought and paid for by corporate and special interest donations. Both McCain and Obama change their stated positions based on who they are speaking in front of that day. I haven't seen the same from Nader.
