I am getting this thing dialed in...
While the radiation warning sign shaped air vents looked cool,

they brought the air in much too high and it was pretty finicky to keep the fire adjusted, so I added a baffle to the inside of the door to direct the airflow down low

I then added a ghetto fire grate to make sure the air comes up from below.

and the improvement in fire control and efficiency is amazing.

That is awesome! I love these types of smokers! But don’t give up on Pellet Smokers just yet….I just picked up the latest and greatest from Traeger the Silverton 620 with WiFire and oh my gosh it is dead silent and it grills. Cannot hear the auger motor at all it is night and day quieter than my old Traeger. Still, though, not as cool as an offset like your project, but it is a step up for sure, But I do admit, the real wood smoking process is a lot more satisfying and relaxing for sure. I’ll put up the pictures you want…😉

The end result was both a success and a bit of meh. The smoke was awesome. The odd "all flat no point" and my lack of fire control made it a bit dry. That said, it was an awesome day outside tending fire and drinking brewskies.
We killed a good portion of it last night and part of the remains are in tonight's chili so it's still a win.

Upcoming mods:
Screw down leveling feet. My patio is sooo uneven and this thing rolls so easy I lifted the lid and chased it across the patio.
Wood grate for the firebox... a 10-hour cook generates a good bit of ash, a grate would get the logs above it to feed air from below.

Smoke ring anybody ? and no, I did not paint that on or do anything to the photo.

A couple more mods...

I'd like to use the smoker when parked next to a vinyl fence but the firebox gets too hot.
I used a piece of the main body tube which is 4" larger diameter than the firebox, added 2" stand-offs an now have thefollowing:

Next I wanted a level spot to set my coffee when I get it fired up in the morning so I added a small shelf on top of the firebox:

And last, a hook to hang my ash rake:
