Oh how I hate Vista

Seth

These go to 11
another tid bid about mac. they ditch there core os in favor of a unix based one. talk about being creative ehhh? regardless, best thing they ever did which enable them to run on intel and amd processers just like pcs.

Apple has some innovated thinking, but that dosen't mean thier software is any better than what M$ puts out. More people use M$ and therefore more bugs come up, and on top of that more people target M$ products.

Anyhow, like I said, if your machine is older don't go vista.... I tried, it does suck. But a new machine and vista will run stable. It's very different than XP and that's why peope don't like it. They will come around. It's the future, especially vista 64. Posting on a vista 64 machine now. ;)

I would have to say my experience has been the exact opposite. My machine is brand new but does not run stable. I like the look and functionality of Vista but it just does not function at the basic level with enough stability.

I didn't start this post looking for a os debate. Just a location for xp. :)

The mere fact that you have to backgrade (I won't say downgrade for fear of reprisals) to get solid working product should be evidence enough that MS hasn't meet the same level of product. :p

It wouldn't be the Interweb without debate and drama, and a glaring lack of relevant information.

I'm posting on MacBook Pro. Honestly, it's driving me nuts not knowing how to do things without thinking or checking the help screens (Mac Help = UBER better than XP help). I've had it about 2 weeks now and I'm getting to where I prefer it to the PC. It boots FAST!!! Like maybe four times faster than my 10 month old Dell notebook (that's not a slouch--2 Gb RAM). That may not be a fair comparison as I put 4 Gb in this machine.

My take: Mac is PREMIUM hardware for a premium price.

You CAN buy a PC that will work well, but don't buy the cheapest pile you can find and expect it to function. You pretty much get what you pay for. We've been buying Dell Latitude D620s and having great luck with them for the past 18 months.

Let me know if you need an XP Pro copy. I may have one kicking around, but I'd have to see. XP home is a total pile, IMHO.

I don't even know what version of Vista to buy. Way to complicate even the buying process MS. Nice work.

Edit: Oh, and both a Mac and a PC is easier to work with than a new softtop.

Soft top? I didn't see no softop! BTW I had the insurance company come look at my car and they quoted me $1,500 in damage, So do you wanna just pay me that now or later? -_-

Oh and vista works just fine on my machine. :cody:

I put it on from about 4 pm to about 7:30 or so. Looks kinda sweet, but man, what a pain.
