I wish I could tell ya.. I've tried everything from the pro suggested sem soap, to friends that say powdered tide and a scrub brush.

Actually, had you dealt with it before, you would have seen it on the very first coat. Soon as I see it, I know I have a problem. Just back off, let it tack up really well, then thin the hell out of the paint and try to slowly seal it in under several light coats. I've been there, and trying to lay it on thick to cover it just ampifies the problem.

ok,

How do you remove it? I asked before about a Pre Paint cleaner and all I got was a buch of morons arguing about what to use and what not to use. The cleaner I used was one that the paint shop recommended.

ok,

I think part of the problem is the gun. I used several different types of cleaner to clean it since I last used it. I guess I should start by cleaning the gun with soapy water. You are right, the thicker I applied it the worse it got. I guess I will wait a few weeks and wet sand it some (I have a slight run :guilty: ) and try it again...

Is it because of this style of paint that it does this? I never had this problem before...

I've got a good gun and a steady hand still (yeah, even at my age)... One call, that's all.

Oh hell, now I'm gonna get sued!

Yeah, metalic paint is a buggar to get right.

Silver and gold is probaly the worst.

K,

Mbryson offered to help also. I'll give it a few weekends and do some sanding and give you a call, Thanks.

The worst part is, this is a freekin trail rig and I'm not looking for a killer paint job. The body is straigh, but not perfect so I have to spend a sh!t load of time just to take it out and scrack it up....

ya know..

Just from the pics, it looks really nice. You want to cut corners now? I'd lean towards making it as nice as you can, then if you cratch it oh well. Build it ugly, and you'll be sure to make it that way first time out.

hHy, good part is silver is the best base coat if you want to do some trick stuff. Can you say ghost flamed Comando? Maybe go for that classic two tone patern? Not really a set back, just a fork in the road.

which are over paid and WAY out of my price range............. :p

By the time you count your time (Doing it twice) and your money (Doing it twice) does that painter sound all that expensive. Besides if they f*ck it up You can make them do it over (Free) or yell and scream very loud. :p :p     By the way I too have a nice gun and a steady hand.

You know the problem may be the gun. Not the cleanliness of it just the gun itself. When you are spraying metalics they are sensitive to the air pressure and volume. It looks like it was put on to thick, and single stage paints are hard to get the gloss you want without putting it on too thick. Take the help offered her when your ready to re-shoot it, or call me at 541-2538. Jack.

You are right Rich, I have done many things that have cost me more money than what it would have if I would have just had it done by a pro. But, what would I have learned? If this was a one shot deal and I never planned on doing it again I would have taken it to someone.

So, it looks as if I have contamination getting in the paint or on the surface. Would it be wise to: Buy a new compressor hose, get another filter (is there one better than another) wash my gun with soapy water, sand the effected areas and wash the car, drink lots of beer and just say F@ck it, or what?

One other problem I have failed to mention... :ugh: the primer I used was greenish in color so I have to apply a few layers to cover up the color... yep, should have used a gray,,, but... :-\

Thanks to each of you for your offers to help. Painting is not that hard, controling the contamination seems to be the challange.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Clean your gun with laquer thinner. I'm just giving you alittle sh!t. If you would like, when you get ready to spray call me and I will come over and stupervise. Just rememberwhen spraying metal flake VERY light coats (see through) 4 or 5 is better then 2 or 3.

A hundred different places. Did anyone who ever owned it Armor-All the tires? Did anyone ever use soap on it? List everything you've ever sprayed in your gun? Any silicone in your compressor oil? Any silicone in your air hose? Gotta neighbor who uses armor-all? You cant predict it, just plan on it.

Hey BC, Remember my Dad's Elcamino....The paint was so dead he armor-all'd the hood for a couple years. When he finally took it to get painted, they had to redo the hood SEVERAL times to get the fisheyes out....It was pretty funny....

Thanks,

If you dont have a prefilter and water seperator you can buy a little filter that you put on the inlet of the gun for one time use. It looks like you have a fish eye problem which can be caused by contaminants from the compressor or a dirty surface along with to much paint. You can buy a additive that will help control the fish eye problem. Fish eyes are one of the painters worst enemies because the more paint that you put on the big the fish eye gets. The best thing to do when you run into a problem is stop let it cure and block sand it wet and clean it real good and try it again.

So, I'm assuming that whene resanding it, I just take the top layer off...? I don't have to sand it back down to the primer stage.... Right?
