Shawn said:ok,
How do you remove it? I asked before about a Pre Paint cleaner and all I got was a buch of morons arguing about what to use and what not to use. The cleaner I used was one that the paint shop recommended.
ok,BCGPER said:I wish I could tell ya.. I've tried everything from the pro suggested sem soap, to friends that say powdered tide and a scrub brush.
Actually, had you dealt with it before, you would have seen it on the very first coat. Soon as I see it, I know I have a problem. Just back off, let it tack up really well, then thin the hell out of the paint and try to slowly seal it in under several light coats. I've been there, and trying to lay it on thick to cover it just ampifies the problem.
Shawn said:ok,
I think part of the problem is the gun. I used several different types of cleaner to clean it since I last used it. I guess I should start by cleaning the gun with soapy water. You are right, the thicker I applied it the worse it got. I guess I will wait a few weeks and wet sand it some (I have a slight run :guilty: ) and try it again...
Is it because of this style of paint that it does this? I never had this problem before...
K,BCGPER said:I've got a good gun and a steady hand still (yeah, even at my age)... One call, that's all.
Oh hell, now I'm gonna get sued!
Yeah, metalic paint is a buggar to get right.
Silver and gold is probaly the worst.
Shawn said:Would it be eaiser just to go get some plain old Silver paint?
ya,BCGPER said:Just from the pics, it looks really nice. You want to cut corners now? I'd lean towards making it as nice as you can, then if you cratch it oh well. Build it ugly, and you'll be sure to make it that way first time out.
Shawn said:ya,
I just went out and looked it over again... It really doesn't look that bad, it just pissed me off. I guess I need to learn how to wet sand now...
Just like lifeBCGPER said:Not really a set back, just a fork in the road.

You are right Rich, I have done many things that have cost me more money than what it would have if I would have just had it done by a pro. But, what would I have learned? If this was a one shot deal and I never planned on doing it again I would have taken it to someone.richpblaze said:By the time you count your time (Doing it twice) and your money (Doing it twice) does that painter sound all that expensive. Besides if they f*ck it up You can make them do it over (Free) or yell and scream very loud. By the way I too have a nice gun and a steady hand.
Shawn said:So, it looks as if I have contamination getting in the paint or on the surface. Would it be wise to: Buy a new compressor hose, get another filter (is there one better than another) wash my gun with soapy water, sand the effected areas and wash the car, drink lots of beer and just say F@ck it, or what?
One other problem I have failed to mention... the primer I used was greenish in color so I have to apply a few layers to cover up the color... yep, should have used a gray,,, but... :-\
Thanks to each of you for your offers to help. Painting is not that hard, controling the contamination seems to be the challange.
Thanks,
BCGPER said:A hundred different places. Did anyone who ever owned it Armor-All the tires? Did anyone ever use soap on it? List everything you've ever sprayed in your gun? Any silicone in your compressor oil? Any silicone in your air hose? Gotta neighbor who uses armor-all? You cant predict it, just plan on it.
Thanks, richpblaze said:Clean your gun with laquer thinner. I'm just giving you alittle sh!t. If you would like, when you get ready to spray call me and I will come over and stupervise. Just rememberwhen spraying metal flake VERY light coats (see through) 4 or 5 is better then 2 or 3.

Thanks,
So, I'm assuming that whene resanding it, I just take the top layer off...? I don't have to sand it back down to the primer stage.... Right?fergusor said:If you dont have a prefilter and water seperator you can buy a little filter that you put on the inlet of the gun for one time use. It looks like you have a fish eye problem which can be caused by contaminants from the compressor or a dirty surface along with to much paint. You can buy a additive that will help control the fish eye problem. Fish eyes are one of the painters worst enemies because the more paint that you put on the big the fish eye gets. The best thing to do when you run into a problem is stop let it cure and block sand it wet and clean it real good and try it again.
