Yeah, just smooth it. Don't over do it, you DON'T want to get back to that primer stage. When you're done, it should all be silver, then just a few light coats will hide that bed liner. I'm curious, how much paint and thinner did you go through?

Oh, and for the record, I've NEVER bought Armor-all..... Think back, way back... Remember, my brother in law owns it??? Oh, and that big boobed blonde you're lusting at on the callenders and posters is my sister in law, which is kinda sick to think about...... Oh, and yeah, they're fake. :D

So, I'm assuming that whene resanding it, I just take the top layer off...? I don't have to sand it back down to the primer stage.... Right?

Like I said before, there are not holes in the piant, it is the color of the paint that has seperated.

This is caused by putting it on too thick. I really think you need a different gun. You said in your first post that a spray can works better than the gun your using. (There's a reason we buy these $300.00 Sata's) With a single stage paint you are probably mixing it 4:1:1. With silver it is very touchy. When you re-do it, the first coat should be a piss coat, don't even worry about coverage, and over reduce it. Use less reducer with each coat so that the final coat is the 4:1:1 that it calls for, that will give you that nice glossy finish. (Or just go get a good B/C, waaaaay easier)

....Painting is not that hard, controling the contamination seems to be the challange.[/QUOTE]

Yeah, Painting isn't hard, it's just applying it in a manner that will look good when your done that's a challenge.

You are right, The first coat seam to vanish into thin air so I laid it down even thicker, and then thicker, and so on. I will take your advice and take it slow. I assume that I can apply the next coat about 20 min after the first coat, the paint seamed to dry kinda fast.

Thanks!!

FWIW..........

I painted the Commando today, and when I first started out I had the same results with the paint. Now, I bought a new gun, new hose, ran the air through my plasma cutter filter, cleaned and washed the jeep.

The problem?
The paint was being applied to thick. I laided down 10ish good coats of paint then went back and laid down 8ish very light coats. I have been painting for the last 3 hours and the jeeps looks amazing!!!!! The metal in the metalic was falling when I applied it to thick, when I lighened up the coats the metal was able to stay where is should be. Thanks for all the posts on this thread they all helped me.

I will post a pic of the jeeps paint after it dries.

I just finished the front clip tonight. This jeep is turning out to be very nice. I'll post some pics in the Commando thread.
