Nice catch. My brain has been on my new-to-me truck and heading out to 5-Mile all day. I think a fly-by-dyslexia hit me on the post date.

So far so good. Been on several wheeling trips and the only parts that have come loose are the parts I didnt clean at all.....ya, Im lazy.


I tried pulling some off that I did clean up good and I cant pull it off.


Well worth the 20 bucks!!!!

After NPLD in AF we swung by the HD and picked up a roll of this:

I got the 1st gen. 4Runner stripped down and wiped all surfaces with Alcohol:

Here is the end result in the cargo area:

It appears to be the exact same stuff as Peel 'n Seal. One roll did the cargo area and another will do the transmission tunnel and front seat area.
After I cleaned the metal with alcohol the tar/asphalt became very sticky.
I'll report back with results. I want to also stick some on the body under the plastic trim/door panels.

Im still happy with mine. It has only fallen off in one place that didnt get cleaned well at all.

i used it inside the rear fenders to help seal (stupid pinch seam) and to help with noise. it is working really well and fyi if you want it to stick really well use some roof sealer with it. the stuff i used was blackjack brand and it worked really well, it is basically like tar that you can put in your caulking gun. i just put it down in a zig zag pattern and it doesn't take much to hold the wrap down. i also used the blackjack sealer to seal the pinch seam from the outside too. it takes a while to dry but when it does it doesn't harden so much that it will crack under stress... i am really impressed

also i picked it up at lowe's right across the aisle from the wrap, can't miss it

Wish I would have known about this stuff 6 months ago. I dropped some serious coin on dynamat. Ha... Good info tho. I need to put this under the panel covers in my hard top. THanks.

I think I'm going to have to try this. Dynamat has got to be about 10 times heavier, which will definitely help with the sound.

How does this stuff do with sound-deadening?

Does anyone who has used this notice any bad smell? I've heard others report a tar smell when it gets hot.

I havent really noticed but the Scout is all open and has all kinds of weird smells so take that for what its worth.

I'm going to have to try this. I've been reading up on it, and it sounds like the peel n seal has a hard time sticking to vertical surfaces. I hope this roof sealer helps hold it on.

are you guys covering your peel n seal once it's installed? Like paint or herculiner or carpet or anything, or are you just leaving it?

where i used it directly over my cat and muffler it gets really, really, really hot and you do get a little bit of the tar smell. this may also be because of the sealer i used as well. it's not strong or anything, my wife is the only one who has ridden in the jeep that has noticed it. none of my buddies have said anything about it on long trail rides etc

I don't notice any smell at all. The 4Runner has been used for DD duty and has also sat a month at a time and never have I smelled tar/asphalt after un-rolling the windows in 100+ interior temps.

My "dynamat" is covered by the carpet. If it were to be left exposed the foil backing would easily be torn by cargo and boots...then you would have a mess!
