Sucks that thing won't start...you'll get it though I'm sure. Does anyone remember the part number for the headers they used? Keep getting lots of warnings about ports matching up with the 318 block buggers. That is 318 vrs 5.2. I might be close to my doner too. 2001 Durango. Guy bought it from drug seizure sale and only needs body parts...keep your fingers crossed. I would love to get it all from one place!

By the way, can't say if it's good info but....
I found this on pirate 4x4. Do search for: knee deep in 5.2 yj swap need wiring help
There is a pic with instructions to disable anti theft about 1/4 page down.
Haven't looked at the pin out yet but....

Maybe?

My Jeep isn't showing the anti-theft symptoms, but thanks though. The anti-theft symptoms in that thread suggest it runs for 10 seconds then dies, starts a couple times like that, but then doesn't do anything. I can start mine as many times as I want but it dies after 2 seconds.

If you buy them from summit racing the part# is Sum-G9064
If you call them they will say they don't have huggers for the magnum but these are the headers you want.

I'd bet it's a security key issue on the new PCM. My last TJ did that when I put in the new PCM and motor. If that's the case you'll need to find a company that can flash that out of the computer, or you'll need a different PCM.

I'm with Bart.
When you do the swap and the engine runs for less than 6 seconds and dies that is the first thing to worry about when doing this swap. Get it flashed or hit the junkyard and I bet it will fix the problem

I'll hit the junkyard tomorrow! Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully I can sort this out soon.

I getting ready to do the 2.5 to 5.2 swap myself, i found a 99 durango 5.2, and i want to slam it into my 98 tj... i have the whole durango and am seeing people having issues with the skim key... now the durango has a security light on the dash but just a regular key (it looks identical to my jeep key) which makes me think i may be okay... the previous owner did have the motor replaced and mentioned engine wiring was done but said nothing about the computer... what would your guys opinion be?? i have read a few of these threads and can't tell you how thankful i am that people are kind enough to post their experiences and photos, partslists, tips ect... it has made me very confident that I should be able to get it done! the only thing really making me nervous being the wiring but have not looked into it too much and am hoping it will all make more sense when i start taking everything apart!!

Does it have the SKIM Module Halo around the ignition? Even if it does...computers are like 50 bucks at the junkyard. I just have to go grab a new one tomorrow and I think I'll be good to go.

The wiring is intimidating but it is really not that difficult. Just get your schematics & a 12 pack of your favorie beverage and sit down and figure things out befoehand and you'll be fine.
I was told a way to test for skim, not sure if it is accurate but I'll tell you what I was told.

Put the key in the ignition, start the car, roll down the window, turn it off but leave the key in the ignition. Open the car, lock the door and close the door, Take a drink of your beverage cross your fingers and reach in through the window and open the door from the inside. If nothing happens you should be golden, if something happens (I believe the horn honks and lights flash) your S*** out of luck and need a new PCM.
Like I said I am not 100% on this but it is a good initial test. Good luck with your swap and make sure to post your progress, we all love to hear about the experiences you have so we can all learn different tricks and techniques. That way other people can use this thread to do their swaps.

Bringing this back to the top because I'm picking my 5.9 up tomorrow. I need to find a 97 or newer ECM and wiring harness, and also a 46RE trans. Just read through the whole thread and getting real excited. Won't start this until the weather starts to cool down this fall but the project is definitely on. I'll be asking you questions down the road. BTW, I may have missed it but how did you fix the injector pulsing problem you had?

Make sure your motor is the same year or newer than your jeep or emissions will be hard to pass.

Sweet, can't wait to see how it turns out.
The pulse was caused by a pinout that got smashed down when putting the plugs back together, so the injector signal was being screwed up and causing extra pulses from another pinout. Pretty easy fix though.
