Just to wrap up the RTT rack build... I finished the welding, painted it and added the rubber pads to the mounts, then bolted it in place. It turned out pretty good, I decided to set up the tent and see how it all fit. I knew the window awning behind the cab wouldn't work, due to how low the RTT sat. I could have raised where the tent ended up, but I wanted it out of the wind. Here's the final product and the tent all ready to go!

lookin good! I'm so jealous of you fullsize guys who have the 2x6 cutouts in the bed. Instant storage rack. Can't wait to see it with 37's and a D60 up front.

I've got pics of my full size somewhere. However, I'm on my iPad and I can't browse and attach. Looking GOOD Greg. I think I should copy your rack but mine slides out of the truck bed nicely for daily driver use.

Looking great! This has me rethinking ideas for my current tow rig. Any luck on the new axles yet?

I dont recall seeing this question, but will the moto's fit under the rtt ?
You could build a simple removal tool with a hoist like they did with jeep hard tops and a ratchet winch.

Looking great.

Glad you guys are liking it, no real 'hardcore' mods yet, but they're coming. The lighting and interior upgrades will make it a much more enjoyable experience when we're spending a long weekend driving the truck. Having the RTT sitting low, it's very easy to get to and set up right now... too bad it'll end up much higher after the solid axle swap and bigger tires.

No luck yet, I'm holding out for a '78-79 Ford Dana 60, since ORD has those SAS brackets in stock. I'd really like to get started on the SAS, but without an axle in my hands, I can't commit to cutting the truck apart.

I've found a rear 14 Bolt... need to pickup gears and a locker for it. An ARB would be very nice, but about 3x more money than a Detroit costs. That's pretty hard to justify.

Good question but no, moto's won't fit under the RTT. I have a hitch mounted bike carrier that will be used, when I need to use the RTT and carry a bike.

It's not super hard to get the RTT and it's rack off the truck, I can load & unload it by myself. It's bulky and heavy, but possible. I have considered a hoist, but after the truck gets a solid axle and 37's, it's not going to fit into the garage, where a hoist would be. :(

There was another article on the IFS vs. solid axle in Off Road magazine this month. I don't think it really pertains to what you are wanting but, it does offer some guidance as to what to look for, and when to make the change and the like.
