Not that it matters now that the decision has been made, but I would never spend actual money on 4.88's in a Toy with a 22R/RE. If you're going to re-gear, then 5.29's are the one choice.

Just had the emissions done and failed miserably. In the hydro carbons I had 3529, max is 220. So I am running extremely rich. I know my carb is acting weird cause it idles super high and it has fast idle issues as in not working.

Is your air filter clean? Maybe a big vacuum leak causing the high idle?

Been working on my rear bumper. Its not welded to the truck yet. It will get tucked up closer to the body when it's finally welded in. Here's a pic of it mocked up.

Only thing I am not fond of is this, it's left this big chunk exposed so I think i am gonna add some pipe under the quarter pannel.

Instead of pipe I would run a square 2x2 tube and taper it at the ends when it reaches the wheel wells it will look better in my opinion with the rest of the square bumper you already have. This is what I did on my bumper,

There are some pictures of it in this post...

I drove my runner as a daily driver for years with 4:10s, it can be done but you have to be patient, realize you aren't driving a sports car, and accept the fact that on road, you don't have a 5th gear. :) my runner did the best when I had a set of super cheap 33s to drive on the road with, and the I had a set of Maxxis tires I swapped on when I went wheeling, I got better mpgs, my commute was better and I wasn't burning out my expensive tires.... Ultimatly I threw my 22re in the trash and got a bigger motor that got the same mpg, was more reliable, cheaper and literally had 3x more hp... So for what its worth, that's my recommendation for the future.... :D

That's what i meant was square tube. Hard tell in your pics but did you attach the square bar under your quarter pan to the frame? Or just let it stand alone?

How much did the swap cost? Did you ever have it pass emissions? Did all the factory Wireing Ans options work such as speedo, all electrical, a/c, heat....still have to have all that.

Sorry I didn't see this post sooner, looks like you got it covered. I took some of the extra 2x4 that I had from the rear and went from the 2x2 square tube to the frame. If that makes sense, It turned out really stout! Your bumper looks good I like the functionality of it.

The way I built it is for funtionallity of it. Might as well have a bumper that's useful right?

Rear lights are hooked up

Well it's a done deal, Sunday night the rear third comes out and it's out with the 4:10s and in with the 5:29's to match the front. It will be back in Tuesday, taking it to my girlfriends dads shop Ans his drive line guy is gonna put them in and in the process show me how to set them up for the future.

Yep, pillow block is fixed. Now I am missing teeth on my ring gear. Its developed a coolant leak to, kinda weird for a motor that only has 10k supposedly. [rant on] I am starting to get burnt out with this truck, I bought it built and ready to go so I could go out and wheel it, and for the fact that it was rebuilt. In it's current state I can't even road drive it for 2 reasons a. The rear third and b. it has no registration due to the fact that something always has to be replaced and that just takes away from the main goal. I just can't win with this truck.

darn, that's too bad. Is the coolant leaking into the engine oil, or is it just leaking onto the ground?

are you missing teeth on the front ring gear, or the rear?
