RANT: I hate the post office

In September I went to my local Post Office to renew my passport for the baja 1000. I paid all the fees, took my picture, filled out all the forms (with tons of personal info like my mother's birthplace and crap like that), and sent it all in with my old passport "priority mail" to the Passport Office. Sure enough, I didn't get it back in time for Baja, and it slipped my mind with the holidays.

Fast forward, I'm wondering what ever happened, so I call the PO. They have no record of my tracking number existing and the passport office never received the package. For $4 and ANOTHER form, I can pay the PO to track my money order to see if it ever got cashed (gotta love the government, a form and a fee for everything).

So they lost my package and it never made it to the destination. I am pissed. I realize mistakes happen, but the ladies there treat me like I'm a total idiot and it's not their problem. Now I get to fill out 2 NEW forms and declare my passport lost or stolen, put a watch on my credit applications, and apply for a NEW passport rather then a renewal. Plus all my sensitive info about me is floating around out there, exactly what I was afraid of. Thanks a lot post office. NEVER AGAIN! :mad2:

I got that too. I checked to see if the money order was cashed and it hasn't been cashed; it never left the PO. They lost it before it even went anywhere.

When I applied for my passport 3 years ago I had it back in under 4 weeks without even paying for the "expedited" processing, sorry you had such a bad experience.

seriously think about legal council. My friends son had his SSN stolen at age 3. It has been 3-4 years now and they are still having trouble. It has cause so much stress that her marriage has broken up. Her son is still concidered a felon. According to his SSN. Not sure how that all works. They will not give him another SSN. You put alot of sensative information on the application for passport. It may sound a little tin foil hat like but, That crap scares me.

One thing the post office got right was hiring rick. I guess they can make good decisions every once in a while.
. Wait just a damn minute here! I see no reason Rick should get off that easy! I mean, he does work for the post office. Therefor he must be held somewhat accountable! I mean, you were going postal Steve. And he is THE POSTMAN!

Technically, Rick is the enabler for the postman...

Thank you, Thank you. I have never felt so important or needed!

So if your mail is late, it just might be because the vehicle is inoperable..... I only have 2500 of them to worry about. :)

I personally appreciate what you do very much. :) And I hope my postman does too - he has yet to let me down.
