Even with the paid it doesn't seem to allow me to listen to an album correctly

This is one of my gripes with Spotify. I want to queue up an album, not queue up the first song and then listen to something else that Spotify thinks I might like.

I use Youtube music on a subscription. I like the ad free channels and the downloads. I don't like hearing songs from my daughter or wife's playlists though. I've been thinking of switching to Spotify, but I hate ads so I'd probably give up YouTube all together if I had to watch ads on the platform.

Youtube only happens for me in a browser, where I can block their ads, because Google can get stuffed. I read the other day that Google is thinking about blocking ad blockers on Youtube, and if they do I'll give it up too.

In the shop on a linux pc I use the pianobar terminal app. for pandora. Bypasses all the ads.

I keep telling myself I'm gonna learn Linux and I never do it.

I've got a student account with Spotify that is half price for the time being. I bounced around a lot before that though.

I've never had a problem with just listening to one album from end to end. It's also easy to listen to an artists complete catalog chronologically if you want.

Pick up a distro with a nice GUI and it will be very similar to Windoze. I have Peppermint and sometimes Ubuntu...
You can run the Firefox web browser and Thunderbird email.
The real power of Linux comes when you learn to use the terminal window.
