My daughter and I joined up with the NAXJA crew today at Prov Canyon. This is the first decent crawling I've done in the 100 and it was a lot of fun. The trail was icy which made it even more difficult

I've ran this trial in similar conditions more times than I can count and based off that I am very impressed with the 100. I needed both lockers without question and I hammered on that front end a lot harder than I wanted but it held up fine. I'm still a die hard manual trans guy (especially snow wheeling) but I'm starting to figure it out :p

Thanks too bad I missed you it would be nice to catch up. I went to about 1/4 of the way from the top then turned around. Wished I had more time I think everyone else was headed for Mt. Logan.

Spent the afternoon doing some snow wheeling with an old friend  Shortly after the pic was taken the snow became really deep! I find myself using the lockers far too often--might get me in trouble someday whereas I haven't mounted my winch yet lol!

My friends rig is a Mazda B4000 which is nearly identical to the Ford Ranger. It does very well with the factory limited slip rear and 33's. He fights wheel alignment (ttb) constantly so he's starting to explore the solid front D30 option...

Well that didn't take long for me to get one of the infamous P030X codes (Cylinder 1 misfire). Decided to change all the spark plugs as well as the coil pack on that cylinder. I've never fought sparkplugs that bad before :ugh: They were so bad I cannot believe all 8 didn't pull the threads out and there was no sign of anti-sieze--nerve racking to say the least! Better get a spare coil pack soon it still ran but it didn't like it one bit. She's back to normal now :)

I had plugs do that in my old Tacoma, I was ready to start shopping for new heads... literally I was that worried. The trick that finally worked was getting the motor hot (running temp) and pulling it just after I shut it down. I think between all my prying and the expansion differences they broke free.

How long to swap the hundy plugs? I've got a set on the shelf waiting for time but have not done mine yet either. Hour or less assuming they come out?

Oh ya I was really worried I'd be pulling the heads. Overall they're easy to change. Number 7 is a tight fit but not terrible. I'm going to carry a spare coil it was 20 miles of driving from the time it started to misfire to completely fail.

I added a sheet of stainless steel to replace the carpet on my tail gate. Simple but HUGE upgrade for this rig

The tailgate carpet replacement is a good idea... I am wanting to do a similar mod to my 80 series, but I want to use thick-ish aluminum (1/4"?) so it provides some added support to my already bowed tailgate.

Oh ya! The first time out I spilled my coffee and it soaked through the carpet and into the tail gate making a big mess. That and the dog hair, mud and grease (because everyone knows tail gate is just another name for work bench ;)) loosing the carpet was a good idea.

Alum tread plate would work pretty good too I think. Either way 6m nut rivets worked great to hold it in place making it easy to unbolt and remove if needed.

I ended up making a platform for the 100 over the last few days. While simple and crude it it has made an enormous improvement when it comes to storage. More info if you're interested: http://www.rme4x4.com/showthread.php?99604-building-storage-drawers-into-an-SUV&p=936559#post936559

Still obsessed with the 100. I installed a new muffler today because the old one was completely rotted out and after destroying one of my 315 Dunlops I added some 295/75 BFG KO's. The 315's were good tires and all but for me they were just too big, aggressive and wide (like my prom date) for my taste. The KO's have been a nice improvement overall and I love the size.

Good call! My FZJ had a burn mark in the tailgate carpet that looked strangely like a fry pan... :ugh:
Hehe that's actually really great.

Op- you mentioned simple and crude a few times in reference to your storage and tailgate. I say intuitive and minimalist. Best way to be
