I bought my Hummers (I have an H3 also) because they are great all around rigs. I drive mine comfortably to Moab.... wheel all week and drive it home. To prepare to wheel just means lowering the tire pressure and turning up the shocks.

I have three kids that I take wheelin' with the wife and I, with the youngest in a car seat, so that pretty much put me in a full sized rig.

I get enough crusty looks from the greenies to last me..... so I appreciate the open minded 4x4 owners who can see past the propaganda the greenies put out about my rig.

The truth is.... IFS does limit the big sucker in the rocks, but I find the truck surprises a lot of wheelers. It is more capable than most thought it was. It won't be running Helldorado anytime soon....... but that's OK with me. ;)

When you care about the sheet metal.....it adds stress. :D

Family camping........it requires a lot of room in your rig to bring everything needed for this little mob. The camping/wheelin' dog is "Tank".

I'll have to keep an eye out for your rig, I'm in Bountiful also

Right on. Looks like your XJ is red, I'll look out for yours too.

I've noticed a couple bad-ass built XJ's up here. I've seen a black one that comes up to visit with one of my neighbors a couple houses up.... and there was a dark blue one for sale right on 1800 below Mueller Park Jr. High. I think he sold it though. Looks like he has a couple other rigs in the driveway.

OK..... let me address that video for a minute.

In my last post (before I actually was able to see the video.....I already suspected this is the one you were going to post..... It is probably the most seen H2 internet video ever!)

I know everyone in that video! The guy driving lives in Colorado and I have wheeled many trails in Moab with him. He bought that rig in 2003 and had no 4x4 experience before he bought it.

That was one of his first trips. The mistakes he made were mostly operator error and he would be the first to tell you that. The stock tie-rods on the H2 are weak and the Fab-tech replacement tie-rods are the first thing any experienced H2 wheeler changes. It fixes the problem you see in the video completely! It also helps if the driver knows a little more about wheelin' than to just add more skinny pedal! By the way he still likes the skinny pedal. :D

He has taken more crap for originally posting that video (and having it re-posted hundreds of times all over the internet). He traded the H2 last year for the green Unlimited Rubicon I posted pics of earlier in this thread (from Strike Ravine).

He also bent the tie-rods on the Rubicon, and took out the transfer case, had a wheel fall off on the freeway (and bounce across the road into traffic) among several other things......and I don't see anyone posting video's saying that is why they don't like Unlimited JK's to wheel.

Here are some pics of the same guy with his new rig. :D

I appreciate your perspective.....but, that video doesn't cover wheelin' the H2 comprehensively. As a matter of fact that was an easy trail.....I have run much harder than that and I've never bent a tie-rod (yet). ;)

Here are some pics of that same H2 that was posted in the video (before it was traded for the Rubicon). His is the pewter colored one with the roof rack and winch. I am driving the black H3 (with winch) on the left in the middle pic.

Here is the H2 last week trying to "flex" a little...... obviously it doesn't do that very well. :D

At least it's wide enough to tilt hard to the side without tipping over.

It's getting cooler up there at night and the aspens have little gold patches starting on them.....it's almost time to start waxing the snowboards.

I just got this pic from a guy I know in AZ that has his rig set-up like mine. Hummer flex. :D

IMO it's the perception that most Hummer owners won't wheel it and they're jerks. It's the same reason we give the guy with the Mercedes 4x4 and the Cayenne owner a hard time. We also tease my uncle who has a Defender (an old one) because he drives it to Idaho on the weekends - although he's not a jerk. I have to say I reaaalllly like yours and out of respect, I'm changing my avatar.

P.S. I work with a bunch of greenies and they give me grief for my little Jeep so it's not just you they're mad at. lol! I DID send them an email about the electric Jeep's that are coming out, I told them all to keep saving their money and stop upgrading their bicycles.

Gotta hand it to you there, running Escalator in a H2 is just plain ballsy! Much respect to you for doing so! Did you make it thru without damage, other than scraping bumpers?

1/2 inch scrape on the new brushguard. Had no idea where the line was so we had to find it. Thanks man.
