I used GPS Babel. I had to unzip the KMZ to a KML. Then I converted the KML to GPX (link in 1st post). But I'm not able to import it into gaia... for now. I'm sure I'll find a workaround.

Nice work... If it serves you well this weekend I'll pick it up for sure. I wish there was a demo to try just to to see how it plays with the harware.

there is a free demo available. I believe i had it for about 5 min before deciding I loved it enough to download the full $10 version. But the free one should be fine for this weekend.

I've used it in the past. I put my own waypoints into it and followed them. It worked quite well. This is my first time uploading a .gpx file into it. In fact, I didn't know what a gpx file was 'till Stephen explained it to me last night.

I just emailed Gaia support with questions, and they responded 2 hours later. At 10:30 at night. I'm MORE than happy to support these dudes.

Sad.. I am not gonna make it... I could friday, but i think i won't be able to find you guys down there in the wild.....

btw any idea of a good topo GPS for the windows mobile 5 PDA?

Still on the fence. We'll see how prepped we can get tonight and Weds. Not looking good, too many work deadlines. I could just take the eXcursion but I'd much rather bounce around the washes and roads of the Swell in the jeep. (we are gonna be in sandy washes aren't we?)

At least in the eXcursion I wouldn't have to bring extra fuel.

So, if you don't mind one more rig, I think I can make this one. If I can make it down to the hunt expo some time tomorrow to get my applications validated then I should be clear to go.

I'd just head down early Fri. morning and join the group camped at the Wedge overlook.
