I just did the HPOP seals in my boss's PSD superduty, it was a most of the day job but not really hard. Seal kit from Ford was around $40, you can get a complete HPOP seal kit from dieselorings.com for a lot less, and it's better quality. Make sure to get the fuel filter drain o-rings as well.
The turbo pedestal is also a common leak point. The quick way to ID which is leaking: The pedestal will cause a drip, the HPOP will gush.

It's a really bad idea to use ether in that engine, it probably didn't have the voltage in the batteries to fire the injectors or had to pump up the oil to the HPOP to actuate them.

BTW, that's a pretty decent deal. I'll gladly sell a trailer to you for $1500 :D

Knowing the guys that used the truck, I would guess that it was ether that killed the glow plugs to start with. I'll get the engine all cleaned up and see where the leaks are coming from and go from there. Thanks for the info and welcome to the site.

Well here it is! I just need to do the saftey and smog and I should be good to go. The list is already starting for things it needs, but for now it is drivable. With any luck I wont have to dump a lot of money in to it.

Thanks guys. I'm happy with it so far. I figure if it can last me four or five months then I should have my money's worth. After that, I don't really care. I don't want to dump a lot of money in it. But it needs glow plugs in a bad way and the front driveshaft needs to be rebuilt. So there's a few hundred right there that must be spent. Tires are on the list right after those are done.
Anyone have any good street tires in the 305 size? Maybe for fab work trade?

Just saw that last part. I'll take that trailer if it's the same deal! That would have to make the trailer worth around $12k. :D

I'll let you think it's worth that much :D
PSDs are fun, aside from the wiring I wish I could find one to throw in my truck. I did just pick up a 7.3IDI with a ZF 5speed for it though. Now to spend as much on a turbo kit as you spent on your whole truck :mad2:

Oh, I think I forgot to mention.....That aux fuel tank in the bed was full (88 gallons) of diesel. 88 x $3.00 = $264.00 !!! :D

 You freaking robbed them with that deal! Have you asked them to pay you for taking that thing off their hands? Probably won't hurt at this point. :greg:
