Snow Shoveling

The only real snow shoveling I have ever had to do was to get me or one of my friends unstuck when snow wheeling.

Since I moved here there have been a couple of times I have had to shovel my driveway. I have tried different ways each time. I am asking what have you found to be the easiest way to clear the driveway?

Since you ask, I found I like a flatter shovel vs the ones that are more like a scoop. I usually go down the center and then push snow to each side from there.

Before I got the snowblower, I would go once down each side to clear a path for me to walk, then I go side to side working my way to the road

Doesnt really bother me but as I was told by my landlord I am supposed to shovel it and the sidewalks out front.

I only shovel the sidewalk, and only cause I have neighbors that use it. I don't bother with the driveway cause it almost always thaws in a day or two. just not worth the effort

a quality shovel makes ALL the difference.

I remove snow commercially, and have been doing it for a long while. A good shovel is faster than a blower (when you add load/unload start, refuel, etc )
The best shovel I have found is this:

Available at Lowes (or at least use to be) along with IFA..
Make sure you get it without the metal blade on bottom.

Snowblower.. I hate the shovel.. there is no "easy way".. most citys do have ordinances about how long after a snowstorm you have to have your walks shoveled and if you are like Tacoma and have made unfriends with local enforcers you will get a ticket....

I clear everything away I don't like having my kids walk on a compacted sheet of ice on concrete :)

Home Depot ORANGE SHOVELS made locally will out last any snow shovel on the market. You can run them over with a truck and they not break.

How big is your driveway? If it's a two car (or smaller) then a shovel may be the way to go. However, I don't care if you're super human, clearing my driveway with a shovel is never quicker than pulling out my blower. It takes me about 30 seconds to have my blower out and running if it's in my garage, about 60 seconds if it's in my shed. Besides, even if it was slower with my blower, the fact that my back doesn't ache when I'm done is worth the extra time it may take. Infact, I'm a nice neighbor and will snow blow the sidewalks in our entire circle. It only takes two passes (36" blower :D) and it's as quick as walking around the circle. If you're going to be around Utah for a while, I vote to look seriously in to a blower.

A few years back I moved and it snowed 9 inches at our new place . So I bought a used snowbolwer but it couldnt handle the deep stuff. Sold that and picked up a bigger sno-blowr, then that broke. Then I picked up a new heavy-duty sno-blowr .Well it didnt snow much that year and it sat there. I just barely used it tonight.

I use a flat blade shovel works great as long as the driveway hasnt been driven on much with the new snow and you catch it before the snow gets too deep. good excersize.

The landlord says you're supposed to shovel? Lolz is what I say to that.

Ya dude is being told that from him home owners insurance company..afraid of being sued by somebody slipping. Unless it's in your lease to remove snow I would tell the dude he needs to do it since it's his property. Though most rentals will state in the lease that you need to do it as the renter.
