So I was going up Double Whammy and grenaded my Dana 300 lo range gears. About right here:
I was able to drive out in hi range but with quite a bit of unhappy noises.
So now what?
I have a 360/T400/Dana 300/14b-60 w/5.13s and soon to be 39.5s
Assuming the high range gears are ok, although I fear they aren't, do I put in the LoMax 4to1 like I've been thinking about. Or will this put me too low since I only have a 3 speed. My current gearing isn't bad, but lower would be nice if it's not going to be too much loss on the top end.
I could also try to find another 300 and swap over my twin stick and heavy duty output for a lot cheaper.
Also, some good friends are getting rid of the twin sticked Dana 20. Would this be a viable option, and would it bolt up?
Looking at this gearing calculator, I currently have a 33.21 final gear ratio, the 4to1 puts me at 50.89. Is that too low for an auto? Also it says that in low and 3rd gear I'm currently moving 548 ft/minute at 750 rpm the 4to1 is 358 ft/minute. That seems awfully slow for 3rd gear.
Now it's your turn.
