so Kane Creek is my new favorite Moab trail

This was my 5th trip to Moab with the Jeep but had never ran Kane Creek prior. Friday I met up with Rondo and Chuck to run Hells Revenge and then I met up with some other friends to run up Poison Spider before dinner and then all of us ran Kane Creek Saturday. All I have to say is that Kane Creek is a fun trail with a lot of great spots to stop for lunch and if you have kids they can play in the creek. We started from the town end and came out down by the highway. And yet again my Jeep surprised the hell out of me and people kept asking if I was locked, I was the only one who was still running open diffs and the stock transfer case out of the six rigs in our group. The long wheelbase and 4.56's play a huge role in getting up stuff. The "waterfall" was easier than expected and I didn't take any bypasses except the first one where it drops off to the right, it was my wife's first trip down and she was nervous. I will post some pictures soon as I upload them, but the weather was perfect and my only carnage requires some spray paint. I'm glad we got to go down before it gets too hot, our next trip will likely be in October.

Rondo is a great spotter and knows his stuff!

So you ran it backwards? you went out past BFE to start? I LOVE Kane Creek, one of my all time favorite trails!

I didn't know we were doing it backwards, this was my first time running it, we drove in behind McDonalds and went down a long dirt road to access the trail. Is it harder running it backwards?

If you went in from mcdonalds and down the dirt road, I believe is forward

Amen on that one. Kane Creek is my favorite trail as well. Even when the water is low the fact that there is shade along the way for lunch makes up for it.

After reading about this trail in the book, I expected it to be my favorite trail I've ever done. I think my expectations were too high. I had fun, but it didn't turn out to be my favorite trail like I had thought it would be. The water level was really low (10" deep at the deepest), so that may have had something to do with it. i'm glad it was such a blast for you and that you love it so much. It definitely has its fun parts.

I've been one that trail with other KJs when it was pretty deep. None of us were very surprised we got over stuff though. Lockers are for gym class.

Kane Creek is a fun trail.

Last time I ran it we had 5 rigs with us I think, much more than that and it could take to long I think.

Lots of good scenery and some good trails as well..

I went down last week but didn't make this trail but I sure wanted to.

You need to be aware of the water depth, especially when there is a possibility of flash floods.
