I was actually half jokingly talking to my wife last night about how Trump has a path to solving my personal political problems. He could break from the GOP, which I think will happen one way or the other because they can't remain divided and still relevant, and then form a 3rd party that is likely to be the strongest 3rd party in some time. A few turns down that long windy road and maybe we have a more open political system where there is an opportunity for something besides Red and Blue, Left Vs Right to participate.
I would love to see this. Trump said he would change things, and that certainly has happened, but we need to get out of this cycle of knee jerk regime change between left and right. The whole political cycle over the last few decades has been like watching the poorly loaded trailer in front of you, it started as a bit of a sway but now is a full out swing side to side and ready to crash and burn any second.

Oh, I'm sure each major news network will still have a reporter or team of reports for the next four years or so who's full time job it is to report on Trump. And they'll dedicate several hours a day to what Trump is doing; but again, he's not the man in charge anymore. So two things will happen:

1) the general populace will stop giving a shit because he's no longer a "threat". There won't be Women's Marches and #RESIST bumper stickers everywhere. Think about how quickly the anger towards W faded after the Obama was elected. Same thing here. American's are goldfish when it comes to politics.

2) Trump is toxic politically now, particularly after the dumbassery of January 6th. No matter your views on the "events" at the Capitol, Trump is unequivocally connected to them. So another one of two things will happen:
A) The GOP will cut out the cancer and move forward in a direction san's the Trump faction. The quickest way for this to happen is for the Senate to convict Trump on the current impeachment charges. Unprecedented? Yes. Inconceivable? No. Trumps greatest feat was co-opting the GOP in 2016 mainly because they were desperate to beat Hillary. If this happens, the GOP may be weaker in momentum, but hopefully stronger in its policy direction and conservative bona fides (a man can dream). Trump will be politically homeless, though. And despite what his most ardent supports think, the MAGA dorks are not a big enough constituency on their own to move mountains.
B) The GOP descends into civil war. The Republican Party and small "c" conservatism are naturally at odd's with radicalism. Trump, no matter what you think of his record over the last four years, is a radical in American politics and he is no conservative in the traditional sense. So if option "A" doesn't happen, then the GOP will fight between traditionalists (aka the evil Establishment) and the radical Trump faction. This likely ends in the GOP disappearing in everything but name only from the political stage (think the Liberals in the UK circa 1920).
Put over the top of this a new President and all the news that generates and you can't help but see that Trump, who will feature prominently no doubt in all this action, is no longer the central player and/or villain in events. So he will fade. Will he run in '24? If the Senate fails to convict, probably; but it will either be at the head of a MAGA third party or a weak and ineffectual GOP.

I think that the legacy of the Trump years will be the long term effect it has on the GOP and the conservative movement in the US. Personally, I hope that the GOP can get rid of Trump and his influence ASAP and return to a more centrist, moderate conservatism to counter the leftward swing that the Democrats have taken of late. If we have two parties of radicals then the majority of the country, Joe and Jill Lunchpail who just want three hots and a cot, are the ones who suffer.

Sorry for getting a bit off topic, but yes, you can buy me a beer whenever you want. ;)

All well said. Yes, the sooner the GOP can de-Trump the better. Might actually get me back into the party if they do.

Heard a clip from the rally on the 6th and a Trump son (honestly not sure if was Donny Jr or Eric) saying it is 'not their Republican Party anymore, it is now Trump's Republican Party.' Sadly one of the few truths I have heard them speak.

I supported Trump just because he treated so many things, like foreign aid, with a bit of common sense and he didn't just do what everyone expected of a politician. It was fun watching the media try to figure out what was coming next. That being said, simply having leaders who behave as if they have moved beyond the 8th grade gym class will be refreshing. Frankly, with the dems in charge of both houses and the presidency, I don't think it will take more than a week or two for the republicans to forget Trump and come together in coalition against whatever craziness (gun control, student loan forgiveness, etc) this congress brings up.

So now what? We lose more historic 4x4 routes in Utah. Just as we did with Clinton & Obama (happy to cite those routes as needed)

Yes, my political scope/attention is quite narrowband... not only is enjoying Utah's (and US) 4x4 routes my primary personal passion, they also lead to my paychecks and lifestyle.

GSENM & BENM reductions will likely be rolled back and we'll lose all those re-opened routes again, perhaps far more than the first round. And if there was ever a climate for the RRWA to get thru... it's now. That will change 4x4 recreation in Utah more than anything we've seen in our lifetimes. While it won't directly impact our backyard places like 5MP, Sand Hollow or even AFC. When you corral a growing number of users (ATV/SXS/4x4 sales are at record high numbers in Utah) into smaller amounts of trail opportunities, those areas too are impacted, perhaps to the point they too are closed or limited due to the impact, conflicts and appetite for closure. :(

I don't know what is coming, doubt I'm going to support whatever it is. My best hope is gridlock in government and nothing happens. There are some serious challenges if the corona lockdown restrictions continue, at some point the bankruptcy, evictions, foreclosures are going to happen. The dollar is not going as far as it used to, the grocery prices have been climbing, I think meat has doubled in the last year. Biden shuts down the Keystone pipeline and fuel is going up. He pushes health care and prices are going to skyrocket again. Reagan had it right the scariest words are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

I would much rather see the two parties work together and actually try to solve some problems.
Gridlock and kicking the can down the road not only drives many of the biggest issues we face or will face in the coming years, but is also tied closely to the division and animosity among Americans (the 'you see it my way or you hate America and should leave' mentality.)
We need to recognize that neither party has all the answers and compromise is not evil.

So what do you believe is an issue that government intervention can solve? I don't believe the new clowns are going to improve things and may even make things worse.

This x∞, the Democratic Party is promising the same bullsh*t they’ve been promising to the same people that keep believing “change” is going to happen for the last 60+ years. What issue currently being promised is going to change? Not the ones most people can get behind because neither party has a solution. But we’ll get some BS pushed through that doesn’t need to change just so they can say they did something. I think the hot topic that’s going to be pushed first is gun control. And for preaching bringing the country together I believe that is the wrong “issue” to start with.

I’m also terrified for this country’s financial future with the socialism paycheck for all, increased minimum wage and debt forgiveness. Not looking forward to my 55% income tax so generation entitlement can sit home on the couch and earn their free education they have no intention on using.

Also not looking forward to our national security when the borders open up and we pay for every swinging dicks medical care, education and food when we can’t even take care of our own right now.

Edit: I also understand most of the first paragraph applies to the Republican Party as well, but as previously stated .gov 🤡’s

If they think the clowns taking picture in the congressional chambers is an insurrection, wait till they see what 100 million 2a supporters do when Biden tries to enact 1/4 of what his campaign site said he would. There are 5 gun controls bills already proposed.

You are going to burn your lips on that pipe dream you are smoking. Conflict is job security. There is no interest in compromise from either party.

Bitcoin and physical gold. The dollar is nearly dead. For the last several thousand iterations, fiat currencies have only lasted on average 40 years; this includes the USD which took on a new form August 15th 1971. It's overdue but this time it's global and the red flags couldn't be more obvious. Call it The Great Reset if you want, but whatever it is, it's here.

The key isn't btc or gold. The key is the origination of the problem in Dec of 1913, the Trading with the Enemy Act and the expansion of that act on March 9th of 1933 by traitor FDR. Everything since then has just been the ongoing symptom of the original problem.
Could you elaborate for those of us not aware of what you're talking about? I'm honestly pretty dumb regarding history of the dollar. And admittedly too lazy to research a little bit about the events you mentioned

This is exactly why I am always preaching 3rd parties. There is no benifit to either party to work together. It still amazes me that we are looking to people who have spent careers in the federal government to help fix it.

Honestly, it's kind one of those things you have to dig and learn yourself because if I just typed out paragraphs of what I've learned you wouldn't believe it. It's so absurd that you have to take the pill yourself. Example: 3 key extremely wealthy people who opposed the federal reserve were on board the titanic when it sank. It's crazy absurd shit.

Are you seriously suggesting that Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a traitor to the nation and that the sinking of the Titanic was orchestrated to kill off three people who were opposed to the Federal Reserve Act?

See what I mean?
no, just believe whatever UNI taught ya.

I'm not suggesting anything, but there are sure a LOT of documented coincidences.
And yes, In my opinion FDR is a traitor for extending the TWE by signing the Emergency Banking Act which was drafted by Hoovers Treasury.

Go ahead and hit the wikipedia, I'll hit the law books. The fact is you are the "enemy" currently and ever since 1917.
I drafted a whole rebuttal to how insane this is, but its not worth it. I don't "hit the wikipedia" on stuff like this, I have a degree in History that focused in large part on 20th century America. And I continue to read extensively on the topic. I consider myself very well informed on the Great Depression and FDR's legacy. History is defined by thoroughly researched, defensible, peer reviewed facts. If you want to make a claim that the Titanic was intentionally sunk or that FDR was a traitor, you better have some hard evidence to back those claims up; because the overwhelming weight of history is against you on them.

It seems insane because it puts into question your personal identity.
No, its insane because its indefensible.

There are so many discrepencies in many of these narratives that you can't possibly claim "facts".
What are you talking about? Facts are just what I describe them; thoroughly researched, defensible, peer reviewed. This is true in any field of study from history to medicine to astrophysics to law. I can claim facts all day long if I can defend my position with evidence. Otherwise what you are talking about is speculation.

But you're right, this isn't the place and we'd never get anywhere typing a fury of text.
This is your response every time you get called out on one of your conspiracies. If you truly believe in them and want to convince others, back it up! Lay out your case, the evidence, the research. All of it! If you don't have it, stop posting it!

History is, afterall, written by the victors. Right?
Myths are written by the victors. History is written by people who take the time to research the past.
