Spray transfer

I keep reading about Spray transfer welding, but I am still a little unclear about what it is. I was reading a thread over on desertrides.com and they were saying you could Spray Stitch/spot and produce welds like this.

I know when you are spraying, the heat is much higher than in short circut, and I read on one of the welding sites about a guy who was teaching his son to do it on a MM210. I have also read that you need a 250 to spray, but that was on pirate. So... how hot to spray?

Boy that does look alot like a machine did it....it's too straight. My vote is TIG. (YOu don't want a TIGwelder, it is soooooo slooooooow!)

I dont know anything about spray transfer welding other than those are some damn nice welds:cool:

I will say this about TIG, if you are good (which I am no where near) its actually pretty fast, not anywhere near as fast as mig but not as slow as most think it is.

I'm gonna have to read up of that process, sounds cool!!!

after reading through that article I realized I have sprayed before...it was pulse spray on aluminum, it kicked ass...you weld looks perfect in any position but the down side is the machine was around $4k:eek: We had the regional Miller rep at our place for about a week letting us demo different machines...
