I have the same gas. After more reading, I have realized that I havn't quite reached Spray transfer, what I am doing is Globular transfer, which is close to spray, but still produces some spatter. Looks like it will take the 90/10 gas to reach spray with my 210. But try it anyway, it is still kinda neat.

Tried it, it's kinda cool. Quieter, almost no spatter, FAST. Not very often I'll use it though....

Maybe I'll try it with 100% Argon, see how different it is.

so in LCD terms...it is like arc welding with a mig...?? you never actually touch the metal with an arc welder except to start the arc, but after that you are letting the current carry the metal to the surface.....please feel free to pic this analogy apart but this is kind of confusing to me...

not really, because short circuit is like that too...but I think you get the idea, the wire is blown onto the base metal in a liquid form...this is why is hard to do with machines smaller than a 250...

the one thing I dont understand is straight CO2 is the hottest weld you can get and Argon is the coolest, why is it that they suggest 10/90 or even 2/98 mix??? hmmm...

Well, at those heat settings, you don't need the penetration, you need the spatter free aspect of a higher argon ratio.

I gotcha, I was thinking your problem was it wasn;t hot enough...makes sence then to have the higher argon;)

Right. Probably similar to using 75/25 on aluminum, it will work...... but....yeah.
