Also, what is the firewood plan? I can bring a bunch but someone else will have to haul it. I don't think it will fit very well in my backpack. ;)

I was thinking of bringing a couple of bundles but if you wanted to bring some we can try to carry enough for a small fire each night.

Here is my edited party. I may only bring the LJ and WR now. Anyone want to come with us. I will bring the 2nd jeep if someone wants to come. Based on the RAINY weather in the forcast for the Wasatch Front, you may want to come with us.

Lane and Shane, Russ and his group are going to get rooms in Hanksville Thursday night, get up early and be at Bullfrog early to catch the 9 am Ferry. I am leaving Kaysville no later than 5 pm tomorrow, Lane won't be leaving until after 6 pm.

Dang I'm excited to run this trail.

Greg, you still planning on coming on this trip? Haven't heard from you in a few weeks.

Yep, still planning on it! I'm getting excited as well!

I'll be driving out on Friday morning, planning to meet the group at the Ferry. I'm going to have my bike on the back of the Lexus and will bring them both across the lake on the ferry. I'm probably going to drive out to the trailhead, park there and unload the bike, unless we can park at the airport. That might be a better plan, to keep our vehicles from getting messed with.

I'm planning on carrying everything I need on the DR650, probably won't haul any firewood, but I do have a bundle I can contribute and toss into someones 4x4. Don't let me forget it!!

I will be bringing a small tent, just to keep the creatures out of my bag and me out of the wind and any possible rainfall.

Anything else I'm forgetting?

Unfortunately, I think I am leaving the WR home this trip. Greg, I will bring the WR450 on the trailer if you would rather ride it than the DR650. Your call, let me know before 3 pm Thursday. One condition on you riding it....you have to give it back on Sunday. Everyone on my end is flaking out so I am throwing the LJ on the trailer and pulling it all across the Ferry that way we will have a trailer in case we have a breakdown we will have a trailer to load it on.

Ok, so it looks like it is $25 each way on the ferry plus another $15 for the rec. pass? The rec pass is needed to run the trail? So I will need to keep it with the bike? Or is it needed to park the vehicle at the trailhead? Or both? Maybe I should call the park. :) I am seriously considering driving around and saving the $50 ferry fee. I will do some checking and see if I can get the answers to these questions and update this post.

Edit: Ok, I just spoke to someone at the GCNRA and they were very helpful. There is an entrance fee of $15 for the jeeps but a single rider on a motorcycle is only $7. This is a very good map of the NRA boundaries. It looks like the trailhead is not inside the NRA. Where exactly is the "trailhead"? I see the road but at what point is the usual parking/unloading spot? Also, there has been some talk of parking at the airport? Is that the tentative plan right now? I am for sure going to drive around to avoid the ferry fee. I will purchase my pass at Hite. To purchase a pass there or at halls crossing is done using an automated (credit card only) machine and the rep. I spoke to said that they have been having problems. He said that if the machine was inoperable that I should not go out of my way to try and pay. Do you guys want to meet at the airport? You should get there somewhere between 9:30 and 10:00 if you are on the 9:00 ferry I would think.

Does anyone know if they have 3G cell service in Bullfrog area?

For those going, my cell is 801-two zero one-5 eight nine one
I'm not sure on coverage, I imagine (with it being as popular of an area as it is) that there is coverage in Bullfrog Marina.

My number is 915-3070

The plan to meet at the airport is fine with me. My best guess is that it will be about 10:00 when we get there. It is said to be a good place to get gas before we hit the trail head. See you in the morning.
