Has anyone else seen it taking off and landing at hill? I've seen it twice today it's amazing how big they are in person. I will try and get a picture or video and post it.

I'm working right next to the flight line on Hill. There was 2 of them that were taking off and landing today. They really are massive up close, yet they look small when they are flying around.

I worked on the B2 Stealth Bomber in California from 1980 until I retired in 1995. It is a fabulous plane and the first time I saw the mock up model my mouth dropped open and all I could do was stare. I have a bunch of pictures but there are quite a few on line that anyone can look at. Just type in B2 bomber in google. The only time you can see it visually is when you are looking from above or below. Straight on it is almost invisible until it is very close. The head engineer, I think his name was Boyd, said that with enough power and fly-by-wire he could make a barn door fly.

Jack, it probably won't surprise you to hear that I once read a short paper on the flight dynamics of barn doors and what it would take to fly them. Totally doable these days. :D

Stealth planes are freakin' awesome, and bring as much joy to America's stalwart patriots as they do death and comeuppance to our enemies. All hail!!

If they were so stealth I wouldn't be able to see them. The Japanese have Ninjas, we have plainly visible "stealth" bombers. We suck at the dark arts.

Just to set the record straight stealth means they have a very small signature on radar we have not developed the invisibility cloak yet. I was sure some one as smart as Cody would know that.

No. You must be mistaken. The "stealth" part of the title clearly refers to an invisibility cloak built through bending light rays around gigantic multi-dimensional objects that interact with their environment at just below the speed of sound while dropping bombs on unsuspecting ninjas at breakfast. This is borrowed technology--Romulan I believe--although Brett or Steven Nelson may pipe in here and say it's actually Klingon.

Everybody knows that.

Heh, Cody, you are clearly mistaken, as there is no such thing as an unsuspecting ninja. Ninjas are always ready, even when they're not. ;)

The record has been re-straightened. My bad.

Thanks!
