Well it was finally time to get a few folks out on this trail to see what its all about... so we decided to spend our sunday worshiping the love of life while in the great outdoors and especially out on the rocks!!! We all met early to save on the heat factor while in the UT desert, it proved to be the right decision because the group ended up growing to 15 very well built rigs so it took us some time to push thru!
Its def a good area with lots of potential once the silt and dirt settles where it needs to be. We started by running the exit trail backwards because this is a challenging route that allow the large group to push through a lot easier. Our trail run started in a wash and continues the whole way to the top of the hill that overlooks snakes. Throughout the adventure you encounter many rock riddles areas with decent ledges and a few waterfalls so thankfully everyone brought their A game cause it was awesome seeing all the sweet rigs perform! As you crest over top of the mountain you can see UT lake to the East, the 1st Tailings Pile North and the rattlesnake canyon trail with a couple abandoned mines with grating over them... all while knowing you have sunshine canyon to the left or the west of the you. Once
we headed down the pinnacle it looked as if we were headed right for the ledges on the rattlesnake trail... not the case, this is where the real fun begins and is the actual trail head for Sidewinder! We had a few folks peel off at that time cause it provides a perfect spot to bail out of the hard stuff! We spent some decent amount of time launching crawlers up waterfalls while others spectated the fun! By the end of the day we all were worn the freak out and I believe we all had an awesome time in the new area of 5mile pass! Glad everyone could make it out and I hope everyone pass's on the enjoyment this trail provides!
