SuperCrawl is going to rock. Those that were there will remember how much the first SuperCrawl rocked. That was the weekend that changed rockcrawling from a backwoods redneck event into a legitimate sport for legitimate teams to compete in. SuperCrawl three looks like it is going to be the same way. It may be the event that brings rockcrawling out of the small towns (and small crowds) into the mainstream with large crowds, large exposure, and large sponsors. If you are involved in the sport it is an exciting weekend, and it is right smack dab in my back yard. COOL. Not everyone is going to be interested in seeing buggies climb up artificial rocks all day. For those people 5 bucks is too much, let alone 15 or 25. Don't get upset about it, there are plenty of people in the city to fill whatever bleachers they can set up. Remember, this is not in Cedar City, this is Salt Lake. Our couple million person population will easily be able to fill the couple thousand seats. More importantly, I want to make Salt Lake a destination that rockcrawling teams WANT to come to. I know the local shops are rolling out the red carpet, and that is really awesome. Let's treat the teams and spectators that came a long way like our guests, and maybe we can have events in our back yard more often.
I know, no one is still reading this, but one more thing... The Nascar comparisons are natural, because that is our goal. We see race car drivers earning great money doing what they love. Everyone that is competing in SuperCrawl loves rockcrawling just as much. We see an opportunity (maybe only a slim one) to build it into something on the order of Nascar, and get paid to do it. We've seen it happen, Dustin and Becca each have a six figure contract. That is exciting, to think that I may have an oportunity sometime in the future to do this for a living. The Nascar comparisons may be a bit of wishful thinking, but it is a goal, and if you don't have a goal you will never achieve it.
