I do not see myself spending any money at any of the business that supports the SUWA. I am not sure if a list of SUWA supporters exist on this web site but if it does not then I suggest that one be compiled as a “Do not support” or “Boycott” list. Any thoughts on this???

This is a very slippery slope. Be careful where you tread.

This has been hashed and rehashed over the years, but a "White List" of pro-OHV businesses would be much more effective than a boycott.

Personally I will be calling Peter Cole (co-owner of Squatters) and thanking him for withdrawing his direct support from SUWA as well as telling him that by doing so he has won my business back.

hmmm we have that list somewhere..I remember seeing it.

Any one on RME would likely be so out of date it would do no good.

Explain and expand?

Once upon a time a black list was created from a published list of SUWA sponsors. Turned out that several of the businesses on the list were not in fact SUWA supporters (one was actually a business owned by a former RR4W president) and had no idea they were on this list because SUWA had tricked them with some rather leading questions. Needless to say, this list created some animosity.

Additionally, black lists and boycotts are a very negative way to approach this problem. Rather than planning your expenditures around who not to support, it's much more positive to plan them around businesses who you know you can. As Jason said, OHV Friendly used to be one such resource, but I'm not sure how up to date it is now.

I disagree that it's a "slippery slope" as long as it's done with 100% investigation and fact finding before putting anyone on any list. That, surprise surprise, is where SUWA failed.. OHVfriendly.com focused on the pro-OHV companies in and around Utah, but also did have a list of blatantly anti-OHV companies.

Yeah, I have a list from ohvfriendly.com but I accidentally killed my code and haven't put it back up. Once I get back in to the country, I'll get it back up. As mentioned, my list focused on the whitelist companies...companies that support us. I did have a blacklist of companies as well but it wasn't real prominent. I don't think we should focus as much on the non-supporting companies rather than giving all the support we can to the companies that have gone out of their way to support us.

Oh, another thing about my list is that is was user submitted and maintained. So at any time you can update/change a company's status.

I'm glad to hear that it was a code issue, as I was worried that you pulled the list down for some reason. Thanks again for making that list possible.

Caleb started a started an ohv friendly list, as noted it is a far more practical. There are several threads on the subject, on my mobile so it is a pita to look them up.

I read that thread and don't want to rehash it again, but I don't think we need to tip toe around with businesses that proudly support SUWA. Investigation is key but If a company is going to support them let them be proud of it and put them on a list. I don't plan every single stop on my trips so it would be nice to know or check if a place I happen to be at were supporting them.

Thanks for making the list!
