I agree. This is info that should be readily available on our site after every meeting. I'll take that blame and try to be more proactive about getting info up. Problem is (just like everybody else) I currently have limited time to do so.

I'm willing to try harder though.

It's not you Shane. It's been requested for years, way before you, but nothing happened till today.

I have been a member of U4 for a few years now. My guff is that I never receive notification when I need to renew. I think you would have more $$$ (support) if a notice was sent via email as a reminder.

The U4 BOD has been toying around with hiring a white glove service to visit member's homes to remind them, with a slap to the face and a free calender and pen*.

*Calender & pen are paid for with your membership money.

Weird. Considerable effort is spent on mailing members renewals notices. And I know that because... I print the envelopes to do so.

I am glad to know that something is being done even though I have not seen one, but why not save the postage and send an email?

Meat was our membership guy, who, after a fitful start, was right on top of membership issues. Then *someone else* took it over, and didn't do a damn thing with it for like 6mos. Currently, Gary Taylor is our membership guy and is making sure issues are being remedied.

If you expired or renewed or joined between like June '09 and.. I don't know, February '10, U4 is likely catching up some backlog.

In the meantime, anyone with issues can PM or email me, and I will get your issues to Gary. I can't think of his username here or I'd say "PM or email Gary". :D

I know there was issues my brother signed up it took like six months before he got his shirts and stuff. Then a couple months later he got another membership with everything again. I just noticed mine had expired last week when I was cleaning out the wallet.

Just an idea from someone who attends all the meetings but is not a board member.... Could U4 get a "Go to Meeting" account and host the board meeting on it? I worked for a company that used it all the time and I don't remember it being too expensive. You can email the invites out to memebers and they can hear the meeting, see any handouts and can ask questions verbally or by text.

I'd answer any questions but it's often hard for me to hear over the sound of how bad-ass I am.

Things are happening but us part time volunteers we are slow but we are getting things done. Some of the latest. After speaking at the Listen meeting with Salazar I have made appointments with Chaffetz, Bishop, and Hatch's Natural Resource persons. I had a meeting with Juan Palma Utah BLM Supervisor yesterday. I have meetings scheduled with Bob Abbey BLM head honcho and John Tanner Hatch's Natural Resource person in Washington DC the week of October 25th. I report to Don Black our Land Use Chairman but since he lives in the South I try to take care of the North. We are getting our 501C3 so we can afford to do the education things for the four wheeling community. I would say more but I want to pass all this by the U4 board before making it public.
That brings up a point, we should not publish the minutes until after they have been approved by the board.
My next point, all RME members, in fact all four wheelers, have the responsibility to report things that happen that U4 can help bring to a good conclusion. If we don't find out what is happening where you ride how can we help. We have the responsibility to keep you informed of our actions.
For those on this forum Don Black is your person to contact but if it is in the North you can contact me if it is more convenient and I will get hold of Don.

Joseph the Red,
While a noble idea, it is my opinion that hosting a live web meeting is... how shall I put this-- a lot of work without the return we might all like to see. I could be wrong, but that's how I feel about it. Board meetings aren't TV shows, they're board meetings. They're once a month. Pretty much everyone on the Wasatch Front could get there. Now, if it was <$100/yr, and we had cameras, I like the idea for the 14 people outside the Wasatch Front that would take advantage of that. But again, I can look up the members outside a 100mi radius, and there aren't that many. Same with "people who want to come but are at work at 6:30 on a Thursday and would be able to watch at work anyway". Again, my opinion, not the board's.

Venerable Jack Johnston:
I fully agree with not publishing unratified minutes. That would probably be in violation of a bylaw anyway. ;) The minutes I posted are the latest that have been entered on U4's forum, and are all approved.
501c3 stuff, as it is currently and somewhat amazingly still pending, aren't really an issue for discussion at the moment. As you know, I'm still sort of on the fence about it anyway, but it's probably a good thing. Sally forth.
Also, I will be in touch this weekend regarding some of your upcoming meetings. And again I thank you for your considerable time in the fray. That's commendable and inspirational. Thank you, Jack. :D

Jack's right about this:

Proceed!

Tacoma you ignorant slut...

I've hosted many "Go to Meeting" sessions and none of them were video. The invite gives everyone a phone # and a web link. I used is all the time to do product training when I worked for Vutec. Basically, I uploaded my powerpoint and people listened and followed along.

Any documents that are shown in Sandy and be uploaded to Go To Meeting and can be brought onto the screen as the presenter is discussing it. If peeps don't care about the documents, they don't even have to be in front of a computer.

It's so simple that it even works on PC

X2,
I've used it several times this year to facilitate new product launches at work. All instances used powerpoint presentations (no video). Users are given login and call in information via e-mail. The host simply shares his/ her desktop with attendees.

piece of cake to use, but be aware of the $50 - $100 monthly fee.

Now that you are no longer ignorant please focus on solely on being a slut.

OOPS, thinking of something else. Scrap my comment re: video. You've jogged my memory sufficiently to remember the commercials for GTM now. :D

I'd love to go to the high-tech desktop-driven meetings Joseph goes to. LOL As it is, I don't see this technology being able to be utilized very well, esp. not for $50-100/mo. :(

Hell, if the public access internet wasn't so shoddy at LHM we could stream the meeting for free. But half the time we can't even get to the U4WDA site from there during a meeting.

Probably because Tacoma's taking up all the bandwidth browsing porn.
