Went to Blacks Canyon in Idaho on saturday.

The Scout stil isnt running good but decided to play a bit anyway.

Tried to climb the waterfall. I had a little extra ambition since a single seat buggy made it up. And thats the first thing to make it!

I think about 3 times, I fell off the rock to the left and kept hitting the front bumper pretty hard. Well the last time it buckled the frame on one side and cracked it on the other. Still was trying to climb it and I lost rear wheel drive. I thought the t case was gone. Turned out to be the rear driveline. So in front wheel drive I was trying to get out and another BANG, I lost the pass side front. Thought it was a shaft but after looking at it a little back at the shop, I think the Detroit blew up again

Got 2 winchs on me to get me out. Was a fun time though!

So this is what a Scout looks like with a broken back

If anyone has access to a frame jig in Idaho PLEASE let me know.

Ouch, sorry to see the damage. Is Black's Canyon the one they're talking about in Pirates in the Bounty thread?

It is....and that was the Bounty obstacle

Basically it was about a 4 foot drop right on to the front bumper so it was trying to fold itself in half. It comes down to having a rusty frame.

It buckled right where the old leaf spring mount used to be which is the weakest spot on a Scout frame. Good thing is its in front of my upper link mounts so nothing with the suspension geometry will be affected

Sorry to here about your frame.

I drove up thru Idaho all the time a few years back. I remember seeing Scouts in the fields along the I 84 freeway all the time. You may find a donor frame cheap up there

Try to keep the Scout alive!

daang bro, dats the pits for sure. I could talk to my class instructor here at the college and see if you can use the frame machine. you would need to put smaller tires on though lol then we could re-stretch it and pull all the bends out, box it, what ever we have to do.

and p.s., I went upto boise Idaho and all I saw was flat rollin hills, where the h-e-double hock sticks you find that obstacle again? lol
