I took the bike up davenport and took the stanburry front over to north willow. The snow is gone but its muddy. My vote is to save the trail and to ride Cherry Creek.

I have tomorrow and Thursday off, 3rd and 4th, if anyone wants to go ride somewhere close. I am in Sandy.

PS, I am very much a noob to dirt so keep that in mind.

Let's say leaving at 8 AM, heading for Cherry Creek, with Little Moab and that area as a backup in case it's super busy.

Yes, that's right. We're aware of the firebirds race, but we're hoping to avoid them by heading further north into the hills. I started a thread on MotoUtah, but I'm having a hard time judging just how busy it's going to be around there. If Cherry Creek will be unrideable because of the race, then we'll head over to the little moab area.

There's lots of single track there. You're just going to have to stay well away from the marked course and checkpoints. Some race personnel, have been known to get a little snotty at freeriders that may wander onto or near the course.

And make certain your bikes are registered and you have your paperwork with you. The last time I did this race (several years ago) I heard of a couple bikes that got impounded due to the owner not being able to provide proof of ownership. They had to go to Delta to get them back.

What you all could do is enter the race in the sportsman class. That is a very fun way to get to know the trails in the area. Just a suggestion.

I've ridden cherry creek twice. I like it there when it isn't super crowded, but I'm going to steer clear this weekend. I'd rather not deal with the drama. My bike is registered, but I don't want to get in their way, and I'd rather steer clear of people with attitude. Plus I have no clue where the race course is, so it sounds like we'd most likely have to turn around at some point because we'd run into the course. Thanks for the heads up SpeedyVic.

Now I'm thinking the area south of Pelican Point, north of Little Moab. I wouldn't mind screwing around @ little moab to practice a few enduro techniques getting up stuff.

Sounds like that is a good idea Steve. I would hate to see you guys get into a mess with officials or other personal while you were down there and have the threat and possibility of your bikes getting taken away.

they won't take our bikes away if we have our paperwork, I just don't want to deal with crowds or drama.

Let's hit cherry creek next weekend. This weekend: west of Utah Lake.

I'm gonig to stick to the Little Moab area for this weekend. Caleb showed me a cool singletrack trail he found back there. And we'll have time to ride up to the top of israel canyon if we want.

I've never been riding in little Moab area so this should be extra fun. Steve, pm me your address so I can meet up with you Saturday morning
