The 'What did I replace or fix on my motorcycle' thread

Last night I pulled my starter and cleaned it. I bought a rebuild kit but it wasn't the correct one so that's why I cleaned up the brushes.

Tonight I swapped the bars out on Harrison's KTM200XCW with some new ProTapper Woods High Bend.

And then put on a new Bridgestone rear knobby

Harrison then told me he wanted to adjust the power valve so we opened it up from about 25% to 50%. Tomorrow night we will clean air filters and change the oil

This weekend I replaced the grips on my 300 with a 50% waffle pattern. Got them all glued and wired on. I also got the new number decals put on both mine and Harrison's 200. Tonight I washed both of our air filters and they are hanging up drying so I can get them oiled up. We have to get ready for Cow Dung this weekend

Cow dung preparation is going on in my garage also. I am putting a new top end in Jack's 105 and since his 85 is due for one and it needs to be ready for the national in 3 weeks, it is getting one also this week. I also need to put a new rear tire on Jacks 105 before the cow dung, which is always fun since I will be wrangling with a mousse on a 16 inch wheel.

I tried soaking the carb in 50% Pine Sol/ 50% water
and then ammonia in the tank
started on Friday and just pulled the carb out and tank out.
I think similar results. Both look pretty good. I'm about halfway through reassembly.

These are just to help me remember what jets are in it.

Been sick for 2 weeks now. First with h1n1 and now with a respiratory "disease" that was caused by the h1n1. Basically I feel like I'm having an asthma attack full time. My daughter also got h1n1 and it hit her hard. She was life flighted to primary children's and has been on life support. My wife has been up there while I've had my boy. I was finally able to tinker on the new bike a little today. Basically transferring a lot of parts over.

So so far I have put the silencer with spark arrest or on, put my flexx bars on with my special fastway riser/mount. I had to modify the mount cause the mounts are now round instead of rectangle. Installed my new fastway hand guards. I tried putting my stabilizer on but the stem collar won't fit because the new '16 also has nuts on the bottom of the bar mounts now. So I will have to get a new collar. And I put a wireless hour meter on.

Left on the list to do is my radiator guards, disc brake guard, grips, and flexx pegs. I hope to get this stuff done before Friday night. I plan on racing Saturday if I can breathe by then. I also need to get my sag set for the new bike. Wish me luck.

So this happened today.

Bad way to end a great race. I'll be tearing it apart tomorrow to see how ad it is. The shock spring is broken and the shaft is bent into a U. This is going to be pricey.

I lost a shaft on my 300 once, however, not this bad. There are a couple theories as to what causes it to happen but the most logical is binding on your linkage. I would not be surprised if you found some seized or rusty linkage bearings.

A new shaft is around $175 if I remember correctly.

Ok, Rekluse question. Last year, my Rekluse worked flawlessly the few times I actually rode. I did an oil change before I put the bike away. I used Bel-Ray thumper racing full synthetic oil (JASO MA2 certified). Now I pulled my bike out last week and the clutch is slipping in a major way (can't even get up a small incline in my yard). I've tried adjusting the free play which didn't help at all. Any suggestions? I've thought about just draining this oil and trying some rotella, which I've used before with good success. Any other suggestions? I've never had any problems with any of my previous Rekluse clutches. As most of you probably know, my clutch should be pretty much brand new, I rode maybe twenty miles last year is all. Thoughts (beside I need to ride more :D )

I'll be working on this tomorrow.

Happened to my last bike after sitting for a little while when I had 2 bikes. I pulled the clutch cover off and separated all the layers and then reinstalled. Never had the problem again.

I just greased the linkage a month ago and it was in great shape. I don't know if the seal leaked all the oil out and it kept bottoming untill the spring broke and it bottomed hard enough to bend the shaft? I was in 4th and hit a G- out when it happened.

I believe the guys at Rekluse recommend running Rotella T oil anyway, especially if you notice any slippage with another oil. I'd drain the BelRay and pour in Rotella, easier than taking apart the clutch!

I also lost a shaft in my '13 300 xc. Mine wasn't as bad as yours either. I had just finished the climb to the top of a mountain and had to descend on just my coil. I also remember my shaft being about $175. Give Jesse Black a call at the Dirt Lab. He'll get you taken care of.

It scared me, I thought the back tire came off.
Took it apart this morning and here is the damage.

Deviant offered me his stock spring. I plan on calling Jesse tomorrow. Might as well have the rear revalved and resprung for my fat ass if I'm this far in.

Yeah, I remember reading that before (and why I've always used it before with my Rekluses), but now I can't find it on their site. They now say anything JASO-MA or JASO-MA2 is what they recommend. Pulling the clutch is only a few minutes, so I'll give that a shot but may switch to the Rosella T anyways.
