There has got to be a cheaper way to do this...

See,,, I have a problem. I cant drive a beater car,,, its just not me :D even though its probably 100% smarter to do that financially. I just think I would be sick of driving it after 6 months

Ya, some people have to define themselves with their possessions. Some people grow out of it, others don't.

No car payment, great mileage, might not be the best out there on the road > Car payment, less mileage, vehicle making up for penor size

LMAO! Really ouch!:eek::rofl:

You missed, "car payment, less mileage, not lookin like a hooligan, nice paint, not working on it every weekend,,," kinda tips the equation :greg:

but I have seen some sweet Miata's! SCCA racing here I come :greg:

That has been my plan from the day we bought it. If the engine would just die so I have an excuse to build a new one....a little warmed up....
While the motor is out I will do some subtle strenthening in the uni-body, replace the bushing, rack/pinion, and build a roll bar. Then it is race time:D

Honestly it has been by far the cheapest per mile car we have ever owned!
Even cheaper then the POS Ford Courier I had:rofl:

I hear ya. BMW's are known far and wide for being inexpensive to fix when things go wrong.

Do you think that maybe I have a problem? Samurai, '83 Rabbit, '98 Jetta, Scooter, over powering desire to buy a Miata? Should I go out and buy a F-350 or something?

or maybe some clogs and a pretty feather for your cap? :cody:

Have you all seen Gears where Stacey is stuffing a small block Ford engine into a Miata? Pretty sweet. I don't know about the body kit though...

So its not really a cheaper way... but.. we just got a SWEET 95 D-90 traded in that could be mine for a pretty decent price (23,000) Ohhhhh soooo tempting....

that’s just a super investment!

If you want cheaper, get a 4-6k honda/nissan/mitsubishi car that'll get 30+ mpg and lower your insurance. Sell the rover and spend 3-5k on a built but streetable toy/XJ/YJ/TJ/ZJ or whatever your flavor is and use that for a back up DD and for camping/wheelin. Use the equity to buy the wheeler, liability only, and take the extra $$$ and put it away for a rainy day or for a month long trip to Europe or something that will stay with you much longer than your fancy M3 cod piece.

That is basically what I did. I had a buggy, truck/trailer. I was in the truck $650/month between payment, insurance, and fuel. I now have less debt (paid off some bills with equity from my truck), and I have 2 cars with a total monthly cost of $230 between the 3 major expenses. That 400/month savings goes a long way into doing fun things and saving for buggy parts (or beer if you're an idiot like me).

But, I didn't figure that out until I was about 25. It's funny how your priorities change around that age.
