that’s just a super investment!

If you want cheaper, get a 4-6k honda/nissan/mitsubishi car that'll get 30+ mpg and lower your insurance. Sell the rover and spend 3-5k on a built but streetable toy/XJ/YJ/TJ/ZJ or whatever your flavor is and use that for a back up DD and for camping/wheelin. Use the equity to buy the wheeler, liability only, and take the extra $$$ and put it away for a rainy day or for a month long trip to Europe or something that will stay with you much longer than your fancy M3 cod piece.

That does sound like a really good plan, and exactly what I need to do. However,,,,,, and this will really suprise you all I know,,, I have a loan out on the Disco so there is no equity in that vehicle.:greg:

I guess I just need to keep a car longer than a year! lol

so you want a vehicle that gets better gas milage and you end up spending more money on an older vehicle that gets worse milage?

Well, you'll eventually figure it all out. I've always been the type that did it my way and wouldn't listen to others. In hindsite I could have saved lots of money and time had I listened, but I had to learn somehow. I won't fault you for it.

I remember when Sean blew his R&P out on his D90 (which he says is the most miserable vehicle to drive to Moab (but it was on 38's so...it's to be expected)). I think it was like 1200 just to fix the r&p and those super sweet 12 spline axle shafts of which he broke, like, all of. Again, 38's lol.

Point being, not only are Rovers not known to be particularly reliable or inexpensive to maintain.

Yep, US spec D90s are POS....Most I see lately seem to have a rust problem. Samll v8 that gets terrible milage, axles/R&P about the same as a sammi, and rattles like you wouldn't believe....But damm they do look cool!!

Pokey,(You will always be Pokey around here) get over here so I can slap you!! You have Gregitious!! Except you loose money one every vehilce change....and go backwards....:p
I have had the "same" vehicle for 18 years;)

Well just some ore info for ya.

Sold my Dodge $1000.00 + pr month to run. Bought a 98 Saturn SL2 really nice car as cars go (35mpg). Bought a XJ for wheelin for $600.00.
Put WAY to much in the undercarriage like $14K to much but I did it all with cash not bank involved. I now have a XJ I would take on any trail in MOAB and a car that get great millage as well.

Just for reference, if I had a Disco I think I would be driving that instead of the Saturn. I love those things.
What kinda MPG do you get on the freeway with your disco?
