Religion and Politics are the same, you get together "talk" about it, then fight, get mad becuase someone doesnt think the way you do, peace out all pissed and with the same ideas and beliefs that you went into the conversation with. Inevidably after two hours of talking you have made no progress in life either. haha

I guess its all personal justification to each other on where you stand in life. haha

Hmmm......I see.

Okay, well here's my take on religion. I don't belive in it. I don't believe that there is a supreme being in the sky that watches us all and judges us. I believe in science, fact, things that can be proven. Religion tells us that the Earth is 6000 years old. How can anyone believe that when we can PROVE that the Earth is billions of years old. Where does religion place dinosaurs? I've heard before (dunno if this is fact) that some religions state that they were placed to test mankinds faith in god. To me that's just making up an answer to something that religion can't answer. So many things seem to be "made up" by religion. I don't have a problem with that, but it seems to be blind faith without thinking things through logically. Which probably is the opposite of relgion in some cases. I've had talks with missionaries before and the hard questions they can't answer and direct me to a bishop. This strikes me as odd, its your belief and yet you can't answer things that you're trying to tell me.

Science always win's in my opinion. I'll agree that science hasn't answered everything, maybe it never will, but it's more truth than any religion has ever been. You can see the proof, the fact. Asking me to believe that there is a god is like asking me to believe that there is someone on this planet with a head bigger than Cody's. Just isn't possible.

This is almost pointless, as it has been covered and brow beaten to death.. but if you look at the base of most of the religions, movements, they all center around karmic retribution, law of reciprocity, golden Rule....pick whichever phrase you like... bottom line, treat as you want to be treated... and respect your surroundings.

Not exactly true. No one has discussed Muslim, or any of the fringe religions that consist of smaller groups of people whose faith does not conform to any of the major religious groups so they choose to worship with whatever mass most resembles their own values. Does this make their belief system any less real than the most popular religions? People really do belive that the only way to get to the highest kingdom of heaven is to have multiple wives. And that taking their own life while taking the lives of as many others as possible secures their spot in heaven. And their families celebrate their demise because they know that it has also secured their spot in heaven. But I guarantee that every one of them would say that it makes perfect sense to them. And why should it not because the Coran states that it is so. I said it before but you can't argue with faith, or beliefs. There is no means to. It makes perfect sense to me to get rid of all of these wacked out religions, but how can you decide which is suitable for our society? All you can do is enforce laws, which prohibit profiling, and protect freedom of religion.

BTW, this conversation is fascinating to me. I mean no offense, I don't think i've criticised any one or their beliefs, and I love it as long as we can keep it up without anyone attacking someone else.
