I bought some ridgid drill and impact about 3 yrs ago... I dropped the impact from 20 feet and picked it up and it still is working today... very durable! Now the little li-ion batterys are almost dead. I would not go with the short stack one but instead go with the ones that are like 3 inches tall.. they last longer and have more juice in them.

I broke down and got the milwakee set. When I got home I realized it was an open box set, but HD is such a madhouse these days that I'm just going to keep it. It didn't look like it was used TOO heavliy. Fortunately the batteries were still sealed.

It has a 5 year warranty on the tool and 2 year on the batteries, so that should be good. They had a promo deal that came with 3rd battery, which is nice. The impact gun is stronger than my makita, but I like the makita drill quite a bit better. The Milwakee goes too fast on the slow setting.

I just bought the Milwaukee drill/impact driver kit at the Orem Home depot, it came with a free third battery! total was $200. Better deal than anywhere online. I think the sale ends really soon though.

yeah, I got that same deal. not bad! I like that the batteries have a charge indicator built in, so I can see how much juice they've got before using them. pretty handy.
