I had a decent set of Big O's on the work truck, wore well... but as far as ride or noise, I couldn't tell you. Ride quality on a loaded straight axle work truck is kind of uhmmmm marginal....

Please report after you've done it. The coil rear is more than I'd like to deal with to tow with. Very cushy, though.
Well, I honestly planned on putting the front coils on the rear and putting bigger ones up front, stiffen up the rear a little. Ive read about this on some jeep forums? Ideas on that thought?

I've got the XT's on my TJ, they do great offroad and in moab but suck for a DD i got 17k out of my first set then some how i got screws in 2 tires and blew out 2 sidewalls (one during EJS and one up Bountiful Canyon). warranty is great but not a good tire for a dd. buy Toyo Open Country MT's, expensive yes but well worth the money

We pull our boat (20' Bayliner) with our 5.2L ZJ and it does fine (pulled over parley's canyon at 65 mph). I must agree that it is much more comfortable with the rear stiffened up. We used to have Rancho RS9000's under it and I would put them on the stiffest setting in the rear when towing and it was much better; even stable. Now that we don't have those shocks, it isn't my favorite adventure while towing.

To be honest, it isn't that bad. As with everything in towing, the amount of tongue weight is where you need to watch it. Our boat is balanced quite well putting enough tongue weight to keep it pulling straight and not pointing head lights at the sky. When I really don't like towing with it is when I have to stop hard. Those little brakes just weren't designed for more weight than the vehicle and unfortunately the trailer doesn't have any. If that were the case I wouldn't mind towing with it at all. Future plans would be to buy a new Tundra. Just wish that I didn't have to wait for the future to make that happen. Oh well...one day.
lol, so in addition to the 4.0, you're going to lift the rear 3.5" before towing by doing a front to rear swap?

Maybe you should mount a 5th wheel hitch on the roof. You could pull a 3 car wedge with that baby.
unlike you guys, I have the unique experience of owning both 5.2 and 4.0 ZJ's, and making the bone head decision to buy a 5.2 ZJ to tow with. If it was a 2500# trailer and a 5.2, then ok. cool. The 4.0 however can't even do freeway speeds with itself in tow, so WTF will it do when you put 2500#, plus gear, plus towing apparatus, plus people, plus xbox controllers in tow? I mean, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

I once owned an XJ... and it was like hitting a brick wall at 72mph. That was it... put two adults in the back seat and it was a struggle just going around town. Couple with the spooky factor on the rear "frame", and I wouldn't tow a damn thing with that. The hitch on my work truck has like 3' of big steel rails bolted to the frame. That makes me happy.

ok well back to the topic of tires, 4 wheel parts is giving free shipping if you buy the warranty which when I did it was cheaper than shipping, I don't know how much it is now. But if you really want the warranty on the tires then you should probably get the bfgs. but I never had a problem with my tires so i never used the warranty
