Sorry Tweakey, I got a little carried away, and didn't read all the later posts before I replied to that one. I do think you should purchase what you believe in, and although I've never used any other type of winch, Warn has built a very solid reputation, and I have never regretted paying the money for it. I put a rope on it last year, and have used it a number of times to aid rigs in recovery at the UROC events.
A quick note on ropes, Rockmonkey's rope snapped while hooked to my rig, and the rope dropped like you had lifted it from waist high and dropped it. Straight to the ground with no recoil whatsoever. He was very stuck though, and they had to pull him off the obstacle backwards to get him out.
