To winch or not to winch?

Even though it's made by Warn, could it be made in Taiwan? Or some other country where all the parts on it are cheap? I'd want to do some more research and hear some feedback before I got one.
......I doubt Warn would have anything to do with it if it were a piece of shizzle.. ;)

Sorry Tweakey, I got a little carried away, and didn't read all the later posts before I replied to that one. I do think you should purchase what you believe in, and although I've never used any other type of winch, Warn has built a very solid reputation, and I have never regretted paying the money for it. I put a rope on it last year, and have used it a number of times to aid rigs in recovery at the UROC events.

A quick note on ropes, Rockmonkey's rope snapped while hooked to my rig, and the rope dropped like you had lifted it from waist high and dropped it. Straight to the ground with no recoil whatsoever. He was very stuck though, and they had to pull him off the obstacle backwards to get him out.

Ya rope sounds cool! :D

My bro's cable has kinked many times... Something happend with his winch back when he had the old CJ running and the motor or something wasn't working properly, it wouldn't pull the cable in. So he wrapped it around his tubular bumper, causing it to kind.
