I always bring a BFH, a good assortment of adjustable wrenches and some silicone. A large zip lock bag to catch diff oil in can be usefull too.

I have broke two shackle hangers - I carry an extra one now. Also a couple things that have come in handy (that haven't been mentioned) was a C clamp, and an easy out set. I plan installing an inverter on the jeep and maybe carrying a drill. (I broke a spring pack bolt which sheered off. I was lucky my brother had a cordless drill)

OK guys, that was a great list of broken parts. Now what TOOLS do you carry on the trail?

Here are three pics of what I currently carry. I've narrowed it down pretty far from the 80 pound toolbox that used to be bouncing around the back of the jeep.....wondering if there is anything critical I left out.

First pic is the "commonly used items". Screwdrivers, 1/4 drive socket set, my trusty channel locks, and air up/down gizmos.

Second pic are the basics: wrenches, vice grips, 12" crescent wrench, snap ring and needlenose, BFmS (Big F... medium Screwdrivers) and allen wrench set.

Third pic is the bigger stuff....big 1/2 drive sockets, complete 3/8 set in metal case, BFH, metric socket rack, big box ends, puller.

Missing from the photo are pickle fork puller and pitman arm puller. Also no incidental repair items are present (duct tape, wire, misc bolts and nuts, tire patch kit, etc. Neither are spare parts (shafts, U joints, etc.))

Am I missing anything?

I usually carry a bigger hammer... :D ;)

One thing I've found helpful for keeping it all organized is I put all my wrenches on a carabiner. I just hook it through all the box ends and have one for standard and one for metric.

-CHECK.

Lets see.. all I've broken is a tie rod (well, bent), and a pitman arm
I carry a spare tie rod (probably not necessary with my 1.5" OD 3/8" wall Tie rod)

So.

1. Spare driveline bolts
2. Spare stock tie rod
3. spare set of axle shafts with circlips and C-Clips
4. *don't have yet* spare set of birfields
5. the spider gears from my Lock Right install.
6. if there is anything that needs replacement soon, I will carry that.
7. *don't have yet* pair of drive plates to replace broken hub if necessary
8. spare set of hoses and belts.
9. 3 qrts each motor oil, gear oil. 1 qrt brake fluid.
10. SPare set of knuckle and hub studs.
