If I remember right, the only thing that happened to the samurai was the plastic trim on one of the bumpers or somewhere got ripped off. I think that that trail is more mental than anything too. I dont remember any real bad spots on it, and when I attemted to take my Landcruiser on it the only reason we turned around was because the people in front of us were taking way too long and wouldn't let us past. The next day we ran Golden spike and I blew a hub apart not too long after Poison Spider ended. We ran into a guy in a cherokee that offered to strap us when we needed it to get off the trail. He got pissed when he got past the hard spots and got his strap out to help only to have to put it right back without using it. :D He did get to strap me up one hill though.

Agreed. tire size and lift dont mean much when you can legally register your rig as an ATV  I know plenty of people that can do every trail in moab with 31" tires and a small lift in a samurai. In a sami you just put it in 4low and ride over things like you are on a quad :D Looking at your cherokee I think you will be fine on moab rim. I walked it to decide whether or not to take my tracker up that trail and thought I could do it in my tracker. Since it was getting late and I didnt have another rig with me, I decided against it. GO FOR IT!
I hereby cordially invite everyone with "31" tires and a small lift in a samurai", who thinks they can run any trail in Moab, to join me on a run up Upper Proving Grounds.

I would if I still had my 235's. :D I could get on the gas more and not have to worry as much about breaking an axle. :D :p

As many people have said, its 90% the driver. Pritchett is doable in a Sami with 235's, locked rear and 4.16:1 gears as long as the driver is damn good. (I have pictures) Personally, I've never really seen the point in making your rig so built that everything but a straight up glass wall is difficult. But hey, thats some people's cup of tea.

I agree, but I just can't picture a sami going up rockpile. :)

I like building and wrenching as much as I like wheeling. And it seems to me that it just lets you do harder and harder trails. That does not equate with taking the challenge out of it. You just find bigger challenges.

First, he's got a long way to go to get to the top... Second, there are NO rocks there anymore. It is now rock free and dug out on the bottom. People that have really built rigs just enjoy doing harder trails. It doesn't take the challenge out of it, it makes the impossible a challenge. If you think a Sami on 235s with a good driver can do any trail, you haven't seen any hard trails. The whole sport is about modifying a vehicle to traverse difficult terrain. I'll never understand the backlash against those that modify their vehicles more to do even more difficult terrain.

Well, you do what you gotta do, and that was several years ago.

I didn't mean anything by it... Sami's are just short! And good driving if you still got that sucker up there! :D

A good run at it will do the trick. That's how I got up dump bump. :D

This was last year in March. This guy was a riot to wheel with. :D

Dont worry, he made it. :D But I was rideing so I don't have any more photo's. And I know that there are no more rocks there any more. And honestly, I beleive that a damn fine driver in a Sami, or any rig STOCK can do any trail, as long as they don't really care how bad they beat the hell out of it. I'm not that driver though. The whole sport is not about modifying a vehicle to traverse difficult terrain, it can be an aspect of it yes, but the sport (as I see it) is more about getting from point a to point b usually with point b being a place of interest. The more challanging the trail, potentially the more entertaining. If a challange to you is a few small ledges, then so be it. If its winching up a cliff face, go for it (though I've never understood the fun in having to winch up something). And I've never understood the critizism that people that don't want to modify very much beyond stock get.
