It must be me but I don't believe moab rim to be that difficult. Its a mental trail because of the drop off but :-\

I hereby cordially invite everyone with "31" tires and a small lift in a samurai", who thinks they can run any trail in Moab, to join me on a run up Upper Proving Grounds.shmoesmith said:Agreed. tire size and lift dont mean much when you can legally register your rig as an ATV I know plenty of people that can do every trail in moab with 31" tires and a small lift in a samurai. In a sami you just put it in 4low and ride over things like you are on a quad Looking at your cherokee I think you will be fine on moab rim. I walked it to decide whether or not to take my tracker up that trail and thought I could do it in my tracker. Since it was getting late and I didnt have another rig with me, I decided against it. GO FOR IT!

SRN said:As many people have said, its 90% the driver. Pritchett is doable in a Sami with 235's, locked rear and 4.16:1 gears as long as the driver is damn good. (I have pictures) Personally, I've never really seen the point in making your rig so built that everything but a straight up glass wall is difficult. But hey, thats some people's cup of tea.
Herzog said:I agree, but I just can't picture a sami going up rockpile.

Well, you do what you gotta do, and that was several years ago.Herzog said:Fair enough. Although, I've never seen that many rocks there before.
First, he's got a long way to go to get to the top... Second, there are NO rocks there anymore. It is now rock free and dug out on the bottom. People that have really built rigs just enjoy doing harder trails. It doesn't take the challenge out of it, it makes the impossible a challenge. If you think a Sami on 235s with a good driver can do any trail, you haven't seen any hard trails. The whole sport is about modifying a vehicle to traverse difficult terrain. I'll never understand the backlash against those that modify their vehicles more to do even more difficult terrain.SRN said:

Dont worry, he made it. But I was rideing so I don't have any more photo's. And I know that there are no more rocks there any more. And honestly, I beleive that a damn fine driver in a Sami, or any rig STOCK can do any trail, as long as they don't really care how bad they beat the hell out of it. I'm not that driver though. The whole sport is not about modifying a vehicle to traverse difficult terrain, it can be an aspect of it yes, but the sport (as I see it) is more about getting from point a to point b usually with point b being a place of interest. The more challanging the trail, potentially the more entertaining. If a challange to you is a few small ledges, then so be it. If its winching up a cliff face, go for it (though I've never understood the fun in having to winch up something). And I've never understood the critizism that people that don't want to modify very much beyond stock get.RockMonkey said:First, he's got a long way to go to get to the top...
