I would think "move" means the same thing as "transport" in their eyes ;)

Sounds like you better get it registered now so (b) applies to you. :D

I'll haul an unregistered vehicle on my registered trailer all day long, and fight any ticket they may try and give me. BUT like I said, you'll have a hard time convincing the judge that you were just moving it from one place to another and did not intend to unload it and drive it on the trail.

Thats what I was thinking why register a trailor if you also have to register anything you put on it. and I know I was going to drive it on the trail He is the one that told me I was on private property amd so was the trail I was going to run I just figured they would cut you some sort of slack for at least trying to do it right (even if I wasn't registered)

Curious, what grounds would you fight it on? I think its a dumb law, but its pretty clear, it has to either be registered or have temp permit to "move" it on Utah roads. When it says drive OR move they would laugh you out of court if you tried to pull the "I was transporting" routine. You know of a loophole we don't :D

I've moved piles of unlicensed rigs, usually on my unlicensed trailer... I guess I have always taken the risk. However when I purchased a rig and planned to drive it around to get it licenced, we bought the temp tag, that way we were legit. However, they only let you buy the temp tag once a year per vehicle I think :-\

If the trail was private then you might have a chance.

One reason... tax $$$. I guess it is so rigs they know will end up off the trailer (such as your case) have to pay the same taxes everyone else does. Its all about the $$$

Off-topic rant: How many mountain bikes have you seen around Moab that are worth $1k, $2k, $3k and more... ALOT! Yet they don't pay PROPERTY tax every year like the rest of us.... nor do they pay an OHV tag price that puts money back into the trails... the same trails they often use. I'de like to see mountain bikes and tevas be forced to get a registration tag showing they are putting some money into the system. ;)

I'd use the same thing I did when they told me that all of the vehicles in my yard had to be licensed.
"Cuz.... F you, that's why"

The last time I looked at a temp tag they had changed it to where you had to pay ALL of the money it would cost to license the vehicle to get the temporary, then you come back with the paperwork and they plate you.

I can see it now:

"F the police" & "George Bush hates Blazer owners" :D

Its your right to fight it... no shame there!

Your right, the last one I did was exactly that way... For an older Cruiser it is something like $37.50 out the door? Kindve pricey for a temp tag but I wouldn't be buying one unless I planned to license the vehicle later. If I was just moving a parts rig or something... you'd be hearing me say "George Bush hates Cruiser owners" :D
