I hear you on it getting filthy... especially being on the back of a rig on long hauls. I never really gave much thought to tossing it in the wash.. but i will take one home and try it for you and see what happens

We usually just hose ours off and hang it out to dry.

Does look like a good idea. And I would think you would be far less likely to find yourself leaving a trail of trash (or other items, depending on how you use it) down the road with the bag than using a trash bag, burlap etc that seems far more likely to tear, esp once returning at highway speeds.

But I would need a spear tire carrier first.

You know, I was actually thinking about the spare tire thing, and if I would really want it in that particular location. I figure I could also hang it from my roll bar easy enough. You could just hang it off the said of your rig from the luggage rack up top... I should think that would work. The only concern would be if some dribble got on your paint or something...
