USA-ALL Billboard Idea? Win $50!

As most know, I recently tookover operations at USA-ALL. We have a 12-month contract for 4 new billboards to go along with the two we already have. I think billboards aren't the best use of advertising dollars, but we're already locked into the contract.

I'm sure most have seen the billboard in Spanish Fork Canyon on your way back from Moab. It's just the USA-ALL logo with a phone number and web address. Boring!

I'd like to do something outrageous, eye-catching, witty, and motivating. Something that will get people to visit the website and possibly join or donate.

I've got a few ideas, but I thought I'd tap the RME creative consciousness for input.

It should be just this side of crazy outrageous, and it should be family friendly!

If we end up using an idea from someone, I'll personally give them $50.

Let's hear it!

how about something simple like SUWA in big letters and a circle with a straight line going through the letters. ;)

I thought about something along those lines. Someone said that it would piss SUWA off and they'd probably sue us. I said, "Good, let em! That's a little less money for them to close roads with."

Although I think most of the people who are knee-deep in these issues know who SUWA is, we need to get a little more broad than that.

There is a possibility for multiple winners.

So F*&% SUWA with a pic of Heidi with a tire on her head wouldn't work huh. :ugh:

I still think just do something simple.

btw I think whomever wins should just give that money to USA-ALL

Something like red dawn where the city is turned into a prison and the only true freedom is in the wilderness, Maybe a picture of a parent and a small child who's looking through a fence at a mountain crying with a caption of what the parent is saying to calm the child "sorry Timmy, But Suwa closed the wilderness because you might hurt it!!" just beyond the fence are 2 people with Suwa shirts on wearing birkenstocks and holding SoyMilk rifles.......... That's what i think of when i hear about road closures.... One more step to being stuck in a city like prison....

I like the idea, but like Meat said it might be too busy for a billboard. BUT, it would be a great house ad in the magazine.

to kinda build on spences idea, you could have a pic of a guy in a wheelchair on one side and on the other a pic of the same guy with a huge grin in a Jeep on a trail.

I think you should deffinately steer clear of taking any shots at SUWA or any specific access group (i.e. hikers, bikers etc.) It's SHARED access, we don't want to make people feel like we are only supporting motorized access.

We don't need to go to their level to win support. By fighting the better fight, we gain credibility and respect from people and in the long run that will pay off I think.

Maybe a big picture of a family looking out over a red-rock vista with a jeep and a mtn bike in the background, and some simple message to the effect of Shared Access....

I'll keep thinking of stuff

I completely agree. I envisioned a scenic utah back drop with a group rallied together. That group consists of a Jeep/4wd, ATV, Dirt Bike, Biker, and a Hiker all standing there enjoying the view.

This along would speak great words itself. The only other text you would need to put on there would be 'USA-ALL' and/or the web address.

I know it's about shared motorized access, but the psychology behind it is that we want everybody to be able to enjoy the lands, right?

What about: "Only God can create wilderness. Say no to SUWA!"

Personally, I think religion should be left out of it. I know people who feel strongly about keeping public lands open that are quite non-religious and others who are very religious.

I'd stick with something that everybody can relate to.

Here is my shot at it. I have ZERO art talent as you can tell. But this is easy to read while you drive by at 60, and should appeal to the masses. I think that it is important that the hunters, and campers, and dirt bike, and 4-wheeler groups know that this is for them as well
