If you make the 3/8th plates later on I'd like to pick some up. I dont think the 1/4" plate will last that long with 9mm and .45acp. Unless you're selling them for a pretty low cost, that it wouldnt matter if they are toast after a few sessions?

Do you happen to have any pictures of the dented/bent metal?

No, but I can take some tomorrow.

Sounds good!

These are sweet, pm me a price if you are still willing to make some.

I don't know...only one way to find out. ;)

My only experiments so far have been with the .22's, and a 9mm. The 9 will dent the steel, or put a bend in it if you hit the 'neck' section, the .22's you've already seen won't do anything besides hurt the paint.

My bro-in-law tried it with a pellet gun tonight, it doesn't have enough power to flip the target. I'll cut one out of 10 gauge and see how that works for the pellet gun. :)
What kind of pellet gun? There is quite a range of muzzle velocities available. Also, how do you think it would work to shorten the legs rather than using thinner material?

Not positive on the pellet gun, I know it's a pump kind, but that's all my info.

Making the legs shorter--would be less mass to move, but also less leverage for the pellet. In my brain the thinner material works better than shorter legs, but I don't know.

Here are pics of what a 9mm does to the 1/4" mild steel:

This one hit right at the worst possible spot, the narrow area of the neck:

That's why it bent more than other spots:

This one hit down closer to the base:

It still bent the edge a bit though:

Still completely usable, and could be hammered flat again in no time....still, I'm thinking shooting with larger calibers makes this a "consumable" item over time.

I went out again this evening shooting and have a couple videos that are much better. Wait till you see what a .243 does to the 1/4" plate at 80 yrds.

That doesn't seem so bad, from what distance did u git them? can you pm me a price for two?

Probably 20 yards or so? Seemed like a reasonable pistol distance anway. :)

Does it leave a mark?

cool video greg. Do they walk in a straight line for the most part?

Thanks, it's my 2nd attempt at actually editing a video rather than just posting an entire uncut video. This video turned out much better than the first, IMO.

They will walk in a straight line if you're on flat ground and you hit top target how you should. Most of the time I've been shooting them on old 2-track roads with a defined low spot. Eventually the target would walk up the side of the track and turn sideways.

At one point tonight, I actually shot the bottom-right of one of the targets that had turned, which straightened it out! :greg:

New video from tonight, much better distance from video camera to targets, none of my ramblings and no music... just the sweet *ting* of rounds bouncing off steel!

And very few misses! :) The nicely-drilled .243 hole was a nice shot too.

Yeah, my scope was off yesterday and I was trying to compensate, plus the wind was really throwing me off. Tonight I took the time to dial in the scope and there was no wind. Great evening for some target practice.

I didn't think I even hit the target with the .243... it didn't really move. I was shocked when I saw the hole!
