I was just thinking about a way to get my xj ready for it, for one of those "just in case" things, not to necessarily take it swimming just make it so it can go swimming if needed.


put it this way. if youre looking at a water crossing, and you "dont know" if your rig is gonna make it out alive, DONT do it.

a snorkel will give the air intake a place to get fresh air that is away from H20, but there are more components on your XJ than just that. like posted above, get some hose and make some breather tubes for both axles, tranny, t-case.

and even IF you have all the bases covered, its a really good idea to AT LEAST check the fluids in anything that could have digested water. best bet is to just change em anyways, why take the risk.

also, something that no one mentioned was the super hot metal versus the cold water factor. those two dont mix. youre bound to crack something.

oh and also as someone mentioned, currents. you think it might be nothing for a truck or suv... but just you wait.... those currents can sweep you and your rig downstream like a rag doll if youre not carefull.
