I've have a JD2 Model 3 that's recently been converted to hydraulic. So far it's built 3 buggies over 6 years and is still in great condition.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either. We had a representative from Pro-tools here on RME but he hasn't been to active lately. I know some of our other vendors might also be dealers for one or the other and offer some good deals.

I have a Pro-Tools 105 in my garage now....when it gets repossessed I'll most likely get a JD2 model 32.

Totally agree.

I ended up with the JD2 model 32 and have had good luck with it. I don't mind the manual bending, although I may change my mind if I ever build a full chassis.

I have an Mtech model 3. Its the same as the JD2 but uses a brass bushing where the pin is to hold the die that is replaceable so the hole doesn't get hollowed out.

Pro Model 105 here. Built 4 cages with it so far and quite a bit of other bending. It's been great! It's going to have to get a hydraulic conversion soon though because I see a full chassis in the future.

I have a HF ram that I'm pulling off my bender to go full hydro if anyone is interested $50.00. I took the ball valve off and put a foot pedal. Makes it much nicer.

I have the Pro-Tools 105HD and like it

A friend of mine had the JD2, sold it and later bought the Pro Tools. His opinion the Pro Tools was the better of the two....

Interesting... any more info? Model? Why he preferred the Pro Tools?

I could ask as I don't remember exactly now, but I think it had to do with the differences in the die more than the actual tool. He's probably bent more tube this month than I have in my entire life, so I trusted his opinion :D
