So is the diy carport a kit from somewhere? Or did you design it yourself and just buy a bunch of steel to weld together? I'm in the market for a shop myself and I've been researching options.
It’s my own design. We looked at buying a kit but the prices are insane. The best deal we found was a 30x40 four post for $36k. Just a roof. No walls. It was I beam and the four corner posts would be nice to have. Mine is 9 posts. Material was $12k but we spent way more than we needed to on the corrugated sheet roof that matches the corrugated roofing on the property already. So is the diy carport a kit from somewhere? The tar paper idea is awesome, I'm going to use it for some troublesome areas.
I'm really not excited for all the caulking I'm going to be doing! And finish carpentry in general is proving to be quite time consuming.
Dammit, Stratton…🤔Very cool. How does he fill it Von?
I hope you do a build thread. I’ve been shop shopping for a while now, all the options seem over priced. Seems like I could build one like VersaTube for half what they charge or less. That should keep the mice from trying to get in too. nice work!4x4 stuff is cool and all, but when my 80 year old Dad can no longer lift bags of chicken feed and needs a grain dispenser, all other projects go on hold. 😂 The end result could certainly be fancier, but nearly all the materials were already here in the shop. 🤷♂️

This one started to fall opposite of my directional cut. Thankfully I had the wedges and a 2#sledge hammer to send it on its way.
